Did you find these same pictures attached to the application?

Technically, the wii remote can provide full head tracking, but I think the eyeToy is capable of doing that already with the right software.

OT, I am glad to see the actual patent application posted and have a solid confirmation. It does still solidify my opinion that the thing will never be made.

 Maybe sony is working on a controller whose position in 3 dimensions can be determined but that still doesn't mean the designs in the picture are the real deal.(maybe some one read the patent and made up these designs)

And can someone post the parts of the patent that says ultrasonic ,those balls and controller plates will be used.

*hangs head in shame* i would rather not play games then be forced to use somethign so ugly and silly looking, its bad enough when wii games make you dance around like a clown lets not add in props as well sony!

All I saw was the fact that you can still change it to make it pretty much a normal dual analog, D-Pad, 4 face button, 2 shoulder button controller. That makes it no different from what I prefer now, only difference is that if I want to I could pull it apart and use it like a Wiimote, but with motion along with 2 analogs instead of 1.

I don't see the issue here. It is something that will actually work for both types of gamers instead of just 1. I prefer choices. Also, who cares if it looks ugly? Only thing I would care about is if it sits confortably in my hands. So before be start moaning, we should be actually be happy. Not only because we are getting something new, but at the same time they are not really taking anything away from what we are already accustomed to.

I really hope that those faceplate A B & Full are not true.. gee I can't even find my wiimote most of the time but switching back & fort between those 3... :(

companies always create new patent, it doesn't mean it'll be released though. MS also has its own motion sensor controller patent. They just aren't working on it.
