But the difference between HD console fanboys and Wii fanboys is that HD fanboys shrug and move on, slightly annoyed, but WII fanboys make 700 threads about how the review system is broken and how *insert casual game* is far better than GTA or MGS.

Calling it GOY or RPG OF the year wasnt too much. The problem is, I expect better from you as a ccontributor, but you acted or are acting just as bad as them. You hype Fable 2 just as much the fans hype LBP. The only difference is, they are in different consoles.

Yes, games can be overhyped.

For the HD consoles, it started as "this game will kill the Wii" and has moved onto "this game will put console x firmly in 2nd position for this gen" where can can be the 360 or the PS3

For the Wii, I believe there is a hype problem due to having Wii Sports, Wii Play, Mario kart, and Wii Fit selling such incredible numbers. The bar is now set too high for games like Wii Music, which will sell millions in its lifetime, and be enjoyed immensely.

LBP planet was hyped an incredible amount as an example. people were predicting sales about as high as the PS3's current hardware sales. For brand new IP. LBP will be huge - if it sells 5 million, that is huge. Even if it only sells 3 million, that's still quite large. You can probably count the number of franchises where the first game that sold over 10 million on your hands.
