The ending was one hell of a tease, It really sucks that we don't even know whether Isaac dies to a single necromorph (or hallucination) or not after taking down all those slashers, brutes, leviathan, slug monster and Hivemind by himself.

This is the second time EA left the fate of the main character hanging on a cliff.

First with Neumann and now Isaac.

@ vlad321: I didn't notice any claws, just blood on her face.... There's also a brief moment where you get to see the shadowy outline of one side of her body, and it looked pretty normal.

I thought it was pretty obvious that Newmann dies, he even says so in the end, "you won't like what you see." The only explanation for the end was that he was hallucinating, because there is no way that Nicole would be there as a necromorph, especially after the marker was replaced, and there's no way for her to be alive since she is a doctor and she'd know how much it takes for her to die.

I dunno about Neumann, he was kicking alot of ass in the comics and is a soldier, unlike Isaac. I really don't believe that he just dies, maybe we'll see Neumann in Deadspace 2.

As for Nicole, just because the Hivemind is gone doesn't mean that every Necromorph is dead, right? Maybe the remaining necromorphs begin to think on their own or based off their instincts and memories because the Hivemind is no longer in control. Either way, we don't even know what Nicole injected herself with...

And wasn't the Hivemind and necromorphs the ones that were causing the hallucinations?? if that's the case, then how would there still be hallucinations after the hivemind is dead? stress? trauma?

Anyways, Kendra (even though she was a back stabbing bitch) was hot. Too bad she died...

I doubt Isaac would have died in the end, the Nicolromorph would assumably be killed by Isaac, I mean he killed hundreds a through the game what is one more?
a Sequel could easily involve Dr. Mercer (is that correct, the guy that killed Temple) as we never actually saw him die, all we saw was one of those reanimator things approaching him, and he intended to bring the necromorphs to earth, coupled with the original marker
anyway I thought the boss was great, a little easy but a cool and fun fight none the less, the dangling sequence was great

No we saw mercer being a necromorph, as soon as that video ends you walk back into the main hub and he is one being turned right as you enter in front of the door.

The hallucinations were caused by the marker not the hive mind, and wasn't the marker on board when Kendra was going to escape before she mopped up the floor?

Apparently if you turn in the marker before every necromorph is dead around you it kills them, so I'm guessing that if she was a necromorph she would have died when you returned the marker. It's just the way she made it sound it made it seem like she was committing suicide and she'd know what kills her. The only thing that would make sense is for her to be an illusion at the end as well. Even if not Isaac can't die, he has the Isaac Boot Stomp which has to be the most power attack in the game.

Didn't notice that, kind of dissappointing, oh well

THe marker wasn't on board, it was sitting right in front the ship on the loading dock during take off, so I guess it wasn't were it belonged, but nor was it onboard

as far as the marker killing the near by necro morphs, it could be explained away as a proximity thing.  It killed those near by, those further away were uneffected

But it also had an obvious effect on the hive mind, and that thing was BIG so I'm guessing the radius is not that small. I would have thought Kendra took the Marker along with her, but meh.

I dunno if it's a discovery or not... but after playing through the game again I'm starting to think the Nicole on the ship during the end was indeed real and NOT and illusion.

Nicole gets on the shuttle before stage 12 with Isaac and after she tells Isaac to move the marker off the ship, Isaac goes into the room to collect that battery and she probably went back into the shuttle at that point.

Also, if Nicole was an illusion the ENTIRE time, she would not have been able to open doors or use the computer at key moments during the game. I believe the Hivemind was using her body throughout the game and when it died, she began to think on her own and for some reason attacks Isaac. (or attempts to kiss him at the end) ^_^.

The thing is that the Marker is the one causing the illusions and it obviously fights against the necromorphs, meanwhile the hive mind controls them but can't influence people's minds. It also doesn't explain the whole injection. I've said in many times, she's a successful doctor so if she doesn't know how much of what substance to kill you then who would? She also dies on the screen in the message.

I would postulate that the ending was an illusion. She obviously committed suicide. What piqued my interest, and I am probably alone on this one, is the crew members with bandages wrapped around their heads. I cannot figure out if they bandaged themselves before they died, or if Mercer possibly prepared them for infection? Also...what was with that guy banging his head in the medical wing? That was most definitely strange.
