Forums - Gaming - OMG! Fanboys are so lame (proof by Metacritic)

@Squilliam: you go to metacritic, select vote now and carefully click the '10/10' button ;)

Around the Network

As someone stated its mostly the PS3 games getting hammered while the 360 and Wii versions 'seem' legit. So its obvious fanboism.

Dont believe. Ok check this out. Look at all the exclusive PS3 games and see their user ratings and amount of votes on games not out yet then compare with other platforms.

For example. Resistance 2.

Anyways you cant point fingers at only 360 it could be Wii fans as well who knows but its obvious someone/people are just silly fanboys. If you notice there has been some backlash from that. Check Gears 2. Like i said before its best to ignore user ratings due to the fact fanboys are everywhere.

Many fans including the "most prominent" x360 loyalists on these forums with several thousands posts to their names have been touting Fable II to be the RPG of the year. Clearly, it is not. Obviously, they have failed to deliver.

As the situation unravelled itself, It became increasingly clear with the release of the LBP and Fable demos, which games would be getting the better reviews.

That's an ignorant statement, topic, and poster, for many, many reasons. You sir, fail. It's gonna take a bit of writing to explain why this is topic itself is "lame."

The only thing that is clear and obvious is your ignorance.

Let me lay out my argument for why you have made many ignorant assumptions and judgements:

A. You have no proof 360 "fanboys" sabatoged your game. We both may think it's obvious, but in reality, it is unprovable, and it isn't obvious at all. You've "jumped to conclusions." Ignorant people jump to conclusions, sir. Others could just as easily assume that PS3 fans might think LBP is for kids, and thus rate it low. I bet Nintendogs, would have a similar result in our new review culture. Those are also examples of assumptions.

B. You've lain out your opinion as unbiased and generally accepted, when it's not. Most people, like myself, obviously knew from the start(hint: before the demos came out, heh) that LBP was going to get a higher review that Fable. You even said it was "unsurprising" in your post. Yet you've chastised Fable. Just because one game rated 90+ on metacritic and another did not, doesn't mean one "Obviously didn't deliver." Assuming so, is ignorance. You said that you loved the first game, though it got lower reviews. Did it also obviously "fail to deliver?" Most would say F1 did fail to deliver, yet Fable 2 was far less hyped, expectations wise, than Fable 1, and yet Fable 2 delivered a far better game. Does 1 point out of 100 obviously and clearly determine a generally accepted pass or fail test? No. Also, does metacritic "obviously" determine anything, like GotY? I wasn't aware Metacritic had a RPG of the year award?

B2. Also, you've mentioned how the games are uncomparable due to their genres, yet you do eventually compare them in your chastizing Fable 2 flame, claiming that Fable 2 "Clearly and obviously isn't rpg of the year, and failed to deliver." At best trolling, at worst flamebait.

C. Less than 4 hours ago, Fable 2 had a 90 rating on Metacritic. Did this so called "fanboyism reducing the user score for LBP" happen in the last 4 hours, since the GiantBomb 4/5 review was posted?

D. How is this topic even Fable 2 related? If what you ignorantly assumed was true, then Fable 2 would have very little to do with Fanboys hating LBP. The Fable 2 insult is just a slight against 360 fans, because you're pissed at them, because you, assume, they shorted your game in the user ratings. It's much more likely that a single person ruined your userrating, via an IP scrambler. He could be a Wii fanboy for all you know. Again, your Fable 2 relation doesn't hold water.

E. Games don't "fail to deliver" because they average a 9/10. Especially when the vast majority of Fable 2 fans on this forum, and Molyneux himself, said the game was about a 9/10. Actually most of the fanboys I know guess the average score from 8.5-9/10. Of course, this is anecdotal evidence, from a thread made about a week before Fable 2 launched. To claim "ownage" or "failure" because a game got a point less than it needed to score in the AAA range, is an oversimplification. However generally accepted though it might be, can't you think deeper than that? Flaming a game as a failure, when it got reviews like Fable 2 got, is a failure in and of itself, of intelligent thought. It's also trolling. It's an opinion that is neither generally accepted, or valid.

F. There is no Fable II demo within the timeframes you've specified. You see how your ignorance is starting to become a provable reality?

G. I don't think 360 fans are too upset or dissapointed with Fable 2 reviews....lol. That's one huge ignorant assumption you've made. To assume that 360 owners, or anyone, are upset by yourflames, and that WKC fans should beware your wit...well you think an awefully lot of yourself. Some guy running a 0/10 bot got to you harder than you could get to the weakest poster on these forums. Whatever forum you are accustomed to posting on, it needs someone like me. A real flamer. This whole "I go by opinions and pretend they are generally accepted in order to flame and further my epeen" stuff is babycakes, bro. I know what you're trying to do, but it's like trying to watch a child drive an 18-wheeler.

H. What makes you ignorant are your many presumptions.

I. What makes you disgusting is your need to flame Fable 2, because you are pissed off that LBP got flamed by the user-bot.

J. What makes you a hypocrite is when you said you hate fanboys.

I think a lot of myself too. What do you think of me?

"Universal Acclaim" and like twenty seven (27) 90+ reviews shows how HUGE it is compared to Fable. People still doubt it will sell much.. I find it funny. The ignorance on some people are so high that they stay focused on one and only one thing that matter most to them.

Fable 2 has 18 90+ reviews so far.

You've been on the LBP side of the whole Fable 2 vs LBP fanboy fiasco from the start.

At least you aren't an ignorant hypocrite like the OP. Be careful with who you agree with though.

Blaming Fable 2 reviews(which have been quite great, actually...) for this userreview fiasco when the userreviews for every other PS3 game are like that, is completely ignorant and wrong. You realize this, however in the future, I wish I wouldn't have to spell everything out for you like this.

Now, the reality about Fable 2 vs LBP is this:

Everyone expected LBP to outscore Fable 2 in reviews. That's not spin or damage control, that's reality. Most knowledgable people expected it. Now, yes, some people expected Fable 2 to score 90 percent on metacritic, but an equal amount of them hated on the game(PS3 fans mostly) saying that it would dissapoint on what it promised, like Fable 1. Fable 2, however, promised less than Fable 1 and delivered far more. 89 was close enough to the 9/10 the developer promised us. Nobody cancelled their preorders, trust me. I'm sure a large number of people expected LBP to be in the top 10 on gamerankings. 94 is close enough. Nobody cancelled their preorders because of reviews.

To pretend that either one of these games isn't great, or that one of them "flopped" is pure unadulterated fanboyism.

As far as comparing them, LBP had better reviews, yes. However, we are comparing apples and oranges here. Would you rather play a great rpg or a really great platformer? Yes, this gen, we've had higher rated platformers and higher rated rpgs. That doesn't mean that these games are somehow deficient. I wish that PS3 fans would stop trying to hold down one, to raise another.

I like to use this example. I'm not a big fan of puzzle games. I like narrative and in game building, not building of my mental capacities. Thus, I would rather play an 8/10 jrpg than a 10/10 puzzle game. I dunno if I'd rather play a 9/10 RPG or a 9.5/10 2d Platformer, but to be honest, I'd love to play them both. Apples and oranges.

Besides, who cares so much about review scores anyway? If the game is good in your opinion, it's still good regardless of it's metascore.

Excellent. I wish more people thought like that. Anyway, according to the OP at least, if Fable 2 gets a 89.49 average instead of an 89.50 average from metacritic, it will have then officially failed to deliver, and will be a disposable flop, instead of a monumental AAA game, as if at least 3 point swings in either direction aren't left entirely up to luck anyway.

Just another example of the dangers of ignorance mixed up with the complacency of generally accepted opinions. The OP is so wrong, it's painful, as should be painfully obvious from most of the posts on this thread so far.
