ARPGs can be also JRPGs. Look at Kingdom Hearts. JRPG only means it's done by a Japanese company

I thought JRPG's had their own art style and that's why they were called JRPG's. I could be completely wrong though.

I usually refer to Japanese made RPG's as JRPG's, same but vice versa with WRPG's.

However, I hope they pull this game off right because from the scans it looks pretty sweet :)

Compare this

As you can see, the artwork is very different, WKC looks like a western game, Rogue Galaxy is cel-shaded, etc.

This game seems interesting. At least we know from this innitial showing that TGS is heading in the right direction for Sony. I just hope they will have a turn based RPG. FFX is the pinnical of turn based rpg's in my opinion, and I would die to see one at that quality on PS3.

what ?`-. to early ? >_>

Check out my game about moles ^

WRPG's are western made RPG's that usually revolve around the ability to customize your character, having alot of choice in how you play the game, and sidequests.

JRPG's are Eastern made RPG's that have a given main story that you have to follow to play through the game, rarely have customizable characters, and sidequests are minimal.

I prefer the storyline of JRPG's commonly more than that of WRPG's, but it's a preference kind of thing.

What?

JRPG have tons of sidequests. Just because you don't do them doesn't mean they don't have sidequests.

I complete every JRPG I make, and most if not all have sidequests, sometimes they are even bigger than the main story.

Other differences between JRPG and WRPG are that WRPG are heavy on the munchkin way and gritty graphics.

Stories in WRPG are poor because of the customization of your character. There are so many possibilities that the developers have to reduce the story to basic things. Both WRPG and JRPG are radically different take on the true tabletop RPG.

Well played Sony, very well played.
