Yeah, some effect. Almost back to pre-price drop levels in America.

Japanese sales fell hard from last week.

And it's still losing to PS3 in Others.

And the PS3 is still losing WW even though its had $200 cut from its orig price and its the best blu ray player.

Wow.

Still living in 2007 eh?

No, its just that SONY fanboys start attacking the 360 when it drops in price saying how desperate MS is although it hasn't had that big of a drop compared to the PS3. Now they say wait for when PS3 drops to $299. It seems they're always waiting for something.

that is irrelevent when it's still the most expencive console on the market :p

Actually the 360 is more expensive. 360 pro is $299 + 100 wireless adapter + $100 for two years of online + $200 blu ray player >>>>>>> PS3 40Gig. Its just that MS was smarter and decided to give option to the buyer instead of being forced to buy everything.

usually i would respond to this but you just pwnd yourself.

twice.

... in one post.

or your incapable of puting forward an argument towards that point.

In fact it is due that point that PS3 has great percieved value.

Fine. First of all he said that the xbox 360 is more expencive due to all it's accessories which is what "we" have been saying all the time. Therefore he just agreed that microsoft offer less value for your money.. and hence he just pwnd himself.

Second of all he assumes that everyone getting said console would get all of these ekstra things and that they would automatically go for the most expencive model which is just plain ignorant. Therefore he pwnd himself again. (for instance with the $100 for live. It's funny how everyone's kept claiming xbox 360 was cheaper and that's why you should get it and then when it's ahead for two weeks it's suddenly more expencive then the ps3? Infact his whole post says that it's more expencive but microsoft was smart because it's cheaper. It's like dividing with zero.

There.

I didn't say it was incorrect. I simply said he pwnd himself twice which was why a response would be unnessesary.

I'm sorry I misread his & your post....I thought you were posting against the PS3 so I came in to protect it.

The 360 already has a significant lead over the PS3, but somehow stretching that lead is considered bad?

Maybe my logic is flawed. Regardless of how little the 360 outsells the PS3, it is still outselling the PS3 (and reversing the PS3's ability to diminish the 360's lead)

The 360 has been on the market a year longer while fighting bad publicity (hardware defects which appear to have been remedied for the most part), cultural/preference resistance in Japan and Sony brandy loyalty in Europe.

It is simply mind boggling that some posters can still discredit the recent performance of the 360 and consider it justifiable.

Just wow...

PLEASE.....Just PLEASE don't even link Bad Publicity with 360

We know and even you know what Ps3 went through in 07 & late 06.....bad publicity wise

There was a book written on its failure in Japan for gods sake.....you can't beat that

The PS3's publicity was a result of Sony's overpromising with little merit in an attempt to justify the PS3's insane price tag (pricey hardware, pricey programming tools and the perceived cost as a result of the learning curve to developers). In spite of that, the PS3 has always had exceptional brand loyalty in Europe and has never faced resistance in Japan as the 360 has.

In no way am I justifying the defective hardware of the 360, because Microsoft should have been more cautious before rushing the release of the 360; however, the 360 has really turned things around considering the circumstances.

Also, it is worth noting that the PS3 has a loyal fanbase being the successor of the indisputable market leader of the past generation. Microsoft's attempt last generation does not compare. When you consider Microsoft's performance last generation, and the many adversities against the 360...the 360 is doing very well for itself.

Both Microsoft and Sony mismanaged the release of their hardware and suffered bad publicity (sure), but the difference is that the PS3's bad publicity in the first place was more so associated with justification of the cost in comparison to the reward which Sony was able to remedy by experimenting with different hardware configurations at different price points...

Sony already had a history or brandy loyalty and recognition with consumers...it really just needed to find a better pricing strategy. Microsoft was fighting a different beast all together.

When this all plays out, the Xbox 360 will be selling slightly better than it would have been otherwise. But the price cut will not much of a long-term effect. That is what has been seen in Europe.

Remember, to most gamers, the version without the HD is not really worth getting and cannot do most of the high-end activities that Microsoft is pushing.

Plus, a lot of people are really in fear of the potential for economic downturn right now -- especially in the US. That could not only depress hardware sales ... but how many people will want to pay $60 for multiple games.

In the long run, I believe Microsoft will see attractive gains in the market as a result of the price cut. As mentioned by other posters, I am sure many consumers are saving for the holiday season.

I can personally say that I am resisting the urge to spend until the holiday season (mostly because of the economy and I know many retailers will be competing for consumer dollars more than ever).

I plan to purchase Fable 2 upon release, but many other purchases I am holding offf on until November (i.e., a new laptop, a Nintendo Wii, and gifts for others). It's no secret that consumers are spending conservatively. The 360 will be hard to ignore at this new price point come the holiday buying season.

YEAHHHHHHH SONY SPINFORCE has been busy

it got 2 million lead this year the ps3.
and by the fourth week of the cut ps3 will back outselling it.

Sales of the PS3 has been dominating WW since Christmas last year to about July before the Xbox 360 started getting back on track.

"September, the month for Xbox 360"

then...

"October, the month for PS3" and probably Christmas too. who knows.
