'"Looks like the 360 price cut has had some unimpressive effect"

 fixed. (I just can't stand any statement that casts the 360 in even the most insignificantly positive light).'

Completely fixed.

Let's be honest... the 360 was tracking well below the PS3 WW for months until the price cut.  It's not blowing the PS3 out of the water, but it *is* selling above the PS3 WW, since the price cut, contrary to what you and some others stated it would do.

My title didn't state that the 360 was burning down the barn, just that the pricecut was having some effect.  It's more credible to give credit where credit is due, than to refuse to give ground on every little point.

Considering it was losing by 50K weekly prior to the price cut. I'd say its great. Plus with Gears 2 and Fable 2 it will beat PS3 for the holiday season. Plus PS3 is the best blu ray player and still doesn't sell alot. Also I remember PS3 has had $200 cut from its orig price and is still dead last. Thats bad

Also remember PS3 is the most expensive console and that Xbox360 is the cheapiest

THEN you understand +25k after a WW price drop is VERY BAD.

conclusion : PS3 doomed

It was in 2007, it could have been killed in 2007.It is just too late now for MS.

Why are people including Rock Band 2 as a factor? These numbers are for the previous week.

Well if you take a look at the sales from just before the price cut then you would see that it has not only a positive effect on 360 sales, but the 360 price cut has also cut into PS3 sales as well.

The chart from Aug. 29th for WW sales, which shows:

360 = 101K WW
PS3 = 165K WW

compared to the new numbers (now 3 weeks later)

360 = 150K WW (+49K overall)
PS3 = 122K WW ( -43K overall)

==> plz, I m stating since 1 month :

"Xbox360 price cut : Xbox360 > PS3 until october"

So, for the moment, my prediction is still ok.

Also the xbox360 was not tracking "WELL BELOW", it was quite close from the PS3 during some weeks ...

==> even the Dreamcast's price drop had some effects. There were the last one.

But SONY said they will still dominate regardless of price remember????

 ==> you want them to say "Xbox360 will crush our PS3" ??????????

==> that is true (even if the Ps3 was already dropping before the price cut)

but, according to you, WHY do you think i m using the difference Xbox360 - PS3 over the relative Xbox360 sales ?

It is because I know what matter are the xbox360 sales and how much they are better than the PS3 sales.

This was inevitable, as a 200 dollar price tag means MASS market. By next Christmas season you'll probably see 360's with a hard drive at 249 and so on. By the time PS3 catches up it just won't matter anymore to me.

Let's just revive this thread next week and see where everything stands.. either the 360 keeps taking share away from the PS3 or the PS3 breaks free and catches up to the 360.

Rock Band 2 was released in America on September 14th. The bundled version was released on the 19th. Last week's numbers go up to the 20th.
