Forums - Sales - This gen console war is over

This gen console war is over. The 360 just about set there 2 place in stone which means that this war is over. I know there going to be a s*** load  of people telling me I'am wrong but unless sony wants to drop the price and keep losing money to try to catch up to ms which they will not  there no real way they can make a comeback. I not saying it will not be close but right now sony need to focus on making money but all that dosn't matter. What matters is how nintendo came for last to wiping the floor with M$ & Sony. The only problem with nintendo is all there new fans are not fan boys and next gen they pick  the one  with the new thing on it or whatever. If you look at how the ps2 fans spilt the same thing can happen to nintendo

um no.....

Err...

No.

I'm not sure how to respond to this much fail. Yes, Wii will win, but second place is more than up for grabs.

Fail thread?

It's a little too early to be making an assumption like that, don't ya think?

I mean, I see your points and all and I'm not saying that you're wrong- but I'm not saying that you're right either.

Let's see.. keep in mind these numbers will be different (and more accurate) come November.

360 has been out for nearly 3 years now and has managed to sell 20.94m in that time frame for an average of 6.98m/yr.

ps3 has been out for nearly 2 years and has managed to sell 15.58m in their time frame for an average of 7.79m/yr.

Judging by those numbers things look brighter for the ps3 than the 360.

wait on guys, theres still a chance hes joking

right?

Bet With routsounmanman: By the end of Q1 2008 Capcom WONT have announced a RE5 Wii Edition OR a new RE (classic gameplay) for the Wii (WON)

All i can do is refer you to my sig. Give you two aspirin and tell you to take it easy for the next couple of days. It will all be OK in the end, ether way!

assumption is the mother of all f**k ups

Factor in games in development scheduled for release in 2009, coupled with a likely $299 PS3 entry price point for the holidays and you have a parity shift in the works.

By 4th year, 360 sales will plateau. There is no precedence for a console platform that did not enjoy a majority market share to suddenly explode in sales.

From a pricing standpoint, where else does the 360 go before the bargain sales that signify a new console is right around the corner? $150 Arcade, $50 60GB HDD, $100 120GB HDD, $200 Pro, $300 Elite? Is that supposed to be enough to break open the mass market? Would MS do this?

The impact of the current pricing scheme cannot be measured until the end of November, which should provide a pretty good indicator as to how holiday sales will measure up as 2009 rolls in.

Wii will win. / thread. Second place is like best placed loser. Not much of a reward.

The thing is, this gen is dominated by Nintendo.

This whole 2nd or 3rd - discussion is stupid. Who cares if Xbox360 will sell 45 million and the PS3 50 million or 40 million? They will end up pretty close, but the Wii is on another level.

Even when you say #1 HD console, it does not change the fact you didn't place on #1 this gen. That goes for MS and Sony.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

That. Beyond Fail.

@xboxfanboy - MS is in ALOT of trouble right now. I don't mean to rag on you, but  making a thread like this makes it seem like you just realized what has been happening for the last six months, and are in denial. The Wii is TEN million units ahead of the 360 despite being launched a year later. PS3 has also surpassed 360 in Europe and Japan eventhough it also came a year after. The 360 has gone through a series of price cuts but the PS3 still consistantly outsells it worldwide. We have not even seen the effects of these pricedrops fade away yet and the PS3 is still doing better than the 360.

I remember when Toshiba kept dropping the price on HD DVD players.
