Forums - Sony - Seems like the panic of FFXIII was Microsoft PR

So you think PS3 will still be $399 till 2010? O kay

Don't be ridiculous, the game won't be delayed for that long. Porting a game that was developed with an engine that works on PC in the first place is not going to be so different from the 360. Remember that it's Microsoft that developed the Windows technology in the first place, and they also developed the 360. It would be surprising to see SE work on an Apple computer, seriously!

Did you ever think it was more of a localization issue than porting issue? :/

Im Talking Versus here. Not FFXIII. Versus will prob be in 2010

I find it annoying when people say "more people to play the game is better" and I look back and remember they very fanboyish posts from the past....

PS3 loses an exclusive -

PSFans - Shit.
Not cool.
MS paid them...
This game wasn't important.
Oh well.
The game won't be as good as it could have been.

MSfans - Take that!!
More people to play the game the better.
Well, I could have seen this coming.
SONY will soon start losing first party games.
SONY can't hold exclusives.

360 loses and Exclusive [rarely...]-

PSFans - Nice
Great. More games to play
Well atleast SONY isn't the only one losing them.
More people to play the game
TAKE THAT!!

360Fans - This game wasn't that great to begin with.
It will sell better on 360 anyway.....
Meh, dev's wanted a little extra cash.
The Ps3 version won't sell nearly as good.

360 game goes to ps3.... after over 6 months. -

PSFans - More people to play the game
Late, but still a good game.
Wonder if it can get near the 360 sales.

360Fans - Meh. Too late to matter.
More people to play the game.
Hah, they are eating spoils.
This game's not important anymore.

I find the 360Fan comments much harsher..... and annoying....

To be honest, here's how I feel about how it "should" be.

If the PS3 version is done, then there is no reason to hold it back. I wish they would release it on the PS3 first, because screw Microsoft if they're trying to hurt other gamers, I play games, I don't play 360.

Now if they really are going to be finished with both of them at the same time, then screw PS3 fanboys for making a big stink and hating on this game, just because it's getting a 360 release.

Screw them anyway, or at least the ones who hoped this game would fall through as a 360 multiplat. They're being selfish over this game going multiplat. They are literally cheering and preying that I never get to play the game, just so the GD playstation 3 can sell a few more units(Who cares which ones sells more! You would cause others to suffer over a non-interactive number that benefits no one but your ego!), and the 360 a few less. It's disgusting behavior, imo, and I'd be ashamed to exhibit it. So yes, I have a personal stake in someone routing against me and my personal gaming enjoyment.

If you hope all 360 exclusives suck, then you make me sick. That's the long and the short of it.

Hell, I wish I could give you Gears of War and Fable 2. I wish that you had all the 360 exclusives that you want to play, all of you. Just give us a break with the FFXIII indignation. It's a probable great game that's going multiplat. If you have to wait an extra month to play it, then deal with it! It's gonna help a lot of your gaming buddies, alright? If we just constantly fight and hate each other over nothing but which very similar console brand we chose to play the damn game on, then gaming is doomed to be a 3rd class entertainment medium forever! Even our reviewers and commentators fall into these fanboy arguments, all for the simple basic human need to choose meaningless sides, so we can feel "safe" in a group.

Have you ever heard the phrase "incessant whining"? Infer from that.

You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Thanks BMaker11 Im glad someone gets it. It has nothing to do with fanboyism - which I'm not. It's about the fact that we buy systems - especially the PS3, to see developers take advantage of that particular system not to know that our investment for quality exclusives was almost not worth it due to inferior ports and moneyhatted multiplats. If u want to play MGS4, or FFVersusXIII, then buy a PS3. If you want to play Gears of War, or Fable 2 then buy a 360. And as an owner of two 360s, two PS3s and a Wii I know I support all however favor Sony - which doesn't make me a fanboy but if you disregard my posts I lose 0 sleep so have a cookie.

No, your argument is that games on the PS3 have better graphics because they're exclusive, and his argument is that competition is good for the industry.

Neither one of you get the fact that I'm not arguing for a one console nation. I'm simply saying that hoping for games to go exclusive because it boosts your company, while it hurts other games, is hurtful and insulting to my delicate sensabilities.

I could care less about Sony and Microsoft, and so should you, unless your an investor, or an entheusiast. They aren't a football team, and marginalizing competing companies contributions while touting your own is silly.

You might not be a fanboy. You are probably simply mislead. PS3 games aren't better because they're on the PS3. They might be better because of their developers or many other factors, but you would percieve them as better either way, because of fanboy comments you've read and apparently believed, and your own perception that wants more than anything for PS3 exclusive games to be the cream of the crop.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Back on topic.

Japan - First (PS3 Exclusive...........currently)
North America/Europe - PS360 simultaneous release....SIMULTANEOUS, BITCHES!

This horse has been beaten, ran over, and is now dead.......Period. Until SE releases a public statement contrary to whats been already stated by the President of SE, the above listed is how it goes down......The End!

You actually think microsoft is going to let FF XIII release on the ps3 months before the 360 one world wide?

Ha think again, they are not stupid. They have the money, they wont let it happen.

One console market? Because that is essentially what you are supporting if you want all systems to have the same games.

I STILL hate when the only argument for multiplats is "Well, it lets more people enjoy the game"

Ever heard of competition? That's why the PS1/2 dominated. They got the exclusive games, people bought the systems in groves. So technically, games like MGS1, FFVII, and Tekken were "able to be enjoyed by millions more" because the only way to get them was on one system, so they bought said system.

No, my argument is that I want my friends to be able to enjoy the same games I play, and games in general to sell more copies. Your argument is "it helps sony, so xbots can eat it."

There is a fanboy pro-Sony/Microsoft argument, and there is an argument that has nothing to do with which company you hope wins the console war.

It's very simply. You want the Playstation 3 to get as many exclusives as it can, so it'll win the console war, and be considered the better console. I want the good games on the Xbox 360 to go to the Playstation 3 so you and others can enjoy them, instead of flame and marginalize them, simply because they are only on the Xbox 360.

Games going multiplat aren't hurting you. You still get to play them. They only hurt your company and your console. When you care more about your company and your console than the games that are played on it, then you know what you are, don't you?

Where am I going wrong? Nowhere obviously, but you can try to keep up if you have the grit.

If you want your friends to enjoy the games you play also....maybe they should have bought the system you have. I don't want the PS3 to have all the exclusives. I'd rather the market BE more competitive, as that would give developers more incentive to make their games the best they can be.

And sure, games going multiplat don't hurt me.....but if the trend continues, we WILL end up with a one console market, which will work retroactively with what I want.....Developers trying their best to make the best games.

Now, I personally believe that Sony makes FANTASTIC products, which is why I support the company, but I also know about business strategies, and why one console DOES beat another. Exclusive games play a big role in that...otherwise, why did in all of 2007, everyone said "TEH PS3 HAZ N0 GAM3Z!!!"? It had Madden, GH3, Rock Band, COD4, etc....but the difference was, none of them were exclusive. And because they weren't, they were ignored as games that make the PS3's library look good.

Like I said....competition. I don't care what you contrue from that, but competition is GOOD. Then, people wouldn't have jumped the gun and bought a 360 if they wanted to play MGS4, and vice versa if they wanted to play Gears. Spend your money wisely

I DON'T CARE WHEN WHICH VERSION COMES OUT...JUST RELEASE THE DAMN GAME! Release the 360 version first....see If I give a shit, just release the fucking game.

lol. I want it so bad.

Big marketing funds for EU and NA are awaiting, so SE has to delay the PS3 version. Fanboyism or not, it sucks for PS3 owners (even ones that also have a 360) because we want to play the damn game. If they can localize and port within 6 months, and I understand it's easier to port from PS3 to 360 than vice versa, then that's ok. I will still be getting the JPN version anyway as it will help me learn the damn language, which is my main focus of study now.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

simultaneous release means that microsoft must of paid alot, and i mean ALOT.

Sorry but I don't buy it. If MS was had doled out the large sums of cash that PS3 fanboys claim they would have gotten, at worst, a simulatenous worldwide release. FFXIII was over budget and running behind. Square Enix looked at the lower than expected PS3 sales and decided that a multiplatform Western release would be their best chance to make the game profitable.

That is fine, but that still doesn't explain why the release has to be simultaneous

You have 3 groups of people

1. People who have to play it and will buy any console

2. People who will play it if it is on their console

3. People who will never play it

There mere fact that the game is on the 360 should be enough to get the sales they want, a simultaneous release shouldn't matter. I find it hard to believe that there would be a large portion of people who will think "pfft, I'm not buying this, the PS3 got it 3 months ago". All SE has to do is say they're "optimizing the game to best suit the 360 Hardware", then release it when it's done and reap the profits.

Now if SE manages to finish the localization of the PS3 version and the port of the 360 version within close proximity then all this becomes moot. But if there is a month to month delay, then it is very annoying.

History has shown that delayed ports just down sell as well as simultaneous ports. That is besides the point however. Usually it takes FF games anywhere from 5 to 9 months to come from Japan to the US and even longer or PAL regions. PAL FF titles hit nearly a year after the Japanese launch. Final Fantasy XII took 7 months to get from Japan to the US and 11 months to hit PAL territories. FFX it was 5 months for the NA verison and 10 months for the PAL version. FFX-2 took 8 months to hit the US and 11 months to hit PAL territories.

FFXIII was going to hit the West 7 to 11 months later minimum based on the last two major games in the series. Why are PS3 owners in the West suddenly acting like the Final Fantasy games get a simultaneous worldwide release? You are going to get FFXIII at the same time as you would have anyway. I think it simply a faux controversy spun from the disappointment that the game is no longer PS3 exclusive.

^ Everyone read this post.  Then read it again.  The only Final Fantasy game that had a simultaneous worldwide release was Final Fantasy 7.  If this game is released simultaneously in NA and PAL regions, we can all expect a year delay; regardless of the XBox 360 port.  Final Fantasy games have always taken a long time to localize.  Stop pretending there's a Boogy Man and ignoring this reality.  Most of you "Final Fantasy fans" should know better.

As for the OP, I read nowhere in the actual scan where it states that the PS3 version will be released before the 360 version.  It only states that the PS3 version will not be delayed because of the 360 port.  I think this fits nicely in with the logical fact that localization will be done at the same time as the 360 version is being developed, don't you?
