Forums - Gaming - Confirmation #143: Sony execs are douchebags

The pure fact they think that system will last 10 years proves they are doucehbags.

It can't top a high end PC graphics today. How bad will it look in 10 years?????
Look at how bad PS2 graphics are today... imagine three years later how bad they will be?
Hell they haven't even proved they can release a game with better graphics than the 360 yet? (I think they will... but not anything that would be impressive in 2017)

Evreytime they say that crap it pisses me off... are people really stupid enough to fall for that?

Technically, they're not lying about the 10 year lifecycle. The PS1 was discontinued just last year. The PS2 is still in massive production and will probably be phased out around 2010.

Just because they say there's a ten year lifecycle doesn't mean that it is their premiere console on the market. They keep producing older consoles for third world and poorer countries long after they're dead in the industrialized world.

Ohhh i see so its a something that is said to make it look good when in actuallity it means absolutely nothing to hardcore gamers. Why exactly should I care about what the console is doing in third world countries? If someone is buying next gen systems 6 months after they are released they probably won't care about the ps3 3 years after next gen is released.

Thanks, it makes more sense now... however it still sounds completely pointless and almost a borderline lie. Cause they are making it sound like xbox will release a new system... BUT NOT US... we are sticking it out for 10 years! or 9 or so then support ps3 for 1-2 years.   (Granted I never thought they would do that.... to me thats why they are trying to make me believe... so I just assumed they were lieing.... again)

Peter moore was talking crap about the PS3 price cut, this is just the pay back.

Your really a fanboy if you take the Sony/Ms war of the words seriously, its like two monkeys in the jungle slinging crap at each other.

Peter Moore didn't talk crap about the price cut. This is what he said:

Eurogamer: What about the PS3 price cut? Do you think USD 100 is significant enough to boost their installed base?

Peter Moore: Interestingly, I didn't see a price cut, and I must have been reading the wrong thing. It's still 499 and 599.

Eurogamer: It's 499 for the 60GB or 599 for the 80GB.

Peter Moore: So they've added greater value at the same prices. Which to me is not a price cut. So I don't want to be anal, but I read price cut and I expected to see 399. When I hear the words "price cut" I expect to see a price cut. What they've done is they've added greater value in the form primarily of storage at the same price points. You know, I haven't made any comment - we'll have to wait and see, I did see Nintendo's George Harrison saying that it's ineffective, but the consumer will vote on that, and I think Jack did say, anecdotally, that their sales have doubled over the weekend, so we shall see.

Again, my opinion doesn't matter. They need to see if they can get their rate up from 20,000 a week. If they increase it 20 percent that's only 24,000 a week. So they need to see if they can double or triple their run-rate to get back in line with where they need to be. And I'm not sure adding more value triples their run-rate of sales, and I don't know what's going to happen in Europe because there's nothing been announced there of yet.

Yeah, that is "talking crap". He also commends Sony for their press conference and talks about how good MGS looked earlier in the article.

Well that definetly sounded to me like Peter Moore was talking crap about the PS3 price cut. "I didn't realise there was a price cut. It's still $499 and $599." How snobish.

It's all part of Sony's bad boy image... what? Don't be hatin'!

That's not talking crap. He later goes on to state how they added value at the same price point. That's pretty much what is happening, especially now that we know the 60GB is being discontinued when stock runs out.

He then says this:

"You know, I haven't made any comment - we'll have to wait and see, I did see Nintendo's George Harrison saying that it's ineffective, but the consumer will vote on that, and I think Jack did say, anecdotally, that their sales have doubled over the weekend, so we shall see."

Which is basically marketing speak for "I'm not going to bash the competition like others have done and we'll see what the customer thinks".

Peter Moore definitely sounds more reasonable and intelligent in his statement.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Ms should just STFu about their competition, with the pathetic hardware quality they have they are an easy target for pay back now.

Ms has been talking crap about Sony for months, now tables seem to be turning and Sony is very capable and eger for some big retaliation.
