 Why this isn't going to happen is because they are going to have different iterations of both. Especially the PS3 as you've seen, they are going to make newer more cost effective versions and get rid of the old and keep doing that multiple times. So they will be profitable much sooner than 10 years. 


They'll be profitable in a few years but they need to maintain that profitability for some time before they negate the losses they took early in the generation. And in that case, Happy's point is completely valid. If they don't sell enough consoles at a loss to maintain the life of the console to ten years, they'll only lose money every generation.

I'm not the only one who is tired of hearing Sony executives spout idiotic phrases and trash the competition. Maybe if you put your bias to the side for a moment, you'd realize how counterproductive this is for the company.

I want to hear about LBP, KZ, MGS, and other games. I don't want to hear executives spend a week making contrary statements on price cuts or how much the 360 sucks. I want to hear what Sony has to offer me as a gamer.

What a silly desire on my part.

I think you should relax a bit. This is buisness, a dog eat dog world. Of course your going to hear them downgrading the competition. Most people reading this articile are propably not even gamers, this is a buisness report. E3, where Sony showed off all their games, that was for their gamers.

Microsoft have said some ridiculous 'trash' as you call it yourself, things like stating  "the PS3 isn't capable of 1080p at 60fps". Which wasn't just a insult, but a lie.  

It happens all the time, no company is worse to blame then the other.

 WOW this is stupid... 80% of PS2 were sold under$200 that means 2.5 years after they started, I don't get your post.
