Seriously, when is Sony going to tell their executives to shut up? The only one who doesn't annoy me greatly is Phil Harrison, I actually quite like him.

I have to get back to work, but nothing I saw in scanning that article was mean-spirited, or even an attack. I was a statement of the truth, as someone who has his 2nd 360 I know this is fact.

It's marketing 101 to downplay any questions geared toward your competition and play up your own product's attributes. Fresh out of college I got a job as a marketing director for a company and was nearly fired for doing this exact same thing.
It looks bad in the eyes of the consumers. It's a desperate ploy that makes you look petty and out of touch when you should be talking up your own product and why people should buy it.
I just can't understand why he thought it was okay to take this opportunity to slam the 360 right after the PS3 had the best E3 of the bunch.
What, didn't he have anything interesting to say about his own product? I don't even own one but their E3 got me interested again.

It will take 10 years to reach profitability and neither the PS3 nor XBox 360 will last beyond 4 or 5 years (6 years if they're lucky) ...
If the Gamecube or XBox had the development costs associated with the PS3 or XBox 360 after their third year there would have been no exclusive third party development; after their fourth year there would probably have been no third party development at all. In order to have a viable system past 4 years your system needed to sell enough units in the first 2 or 3 years to maintain software development; as a guess I would say that for the XBox 360 and PS3 to really have a long life they would each need to sell 20 Million by the end of their second year, and 30 Million by the end of their third year (at the current rate this simply won't happen).
Real classy. What bothers me is that he doesn't mention the PS3 at all, and only talks about the Playstation brand in one sentence.
Granted, they're probably picking and choosing quotes, but still.
Bad PR, yes, though I give him props for speaking his mind...

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

It's not the marketing veep's job to speak his mind. It's his job to talk up his product and after Sony's E3, he should have plenty to talk about.
He's the face of Playstation when it comes to advertising. No one wants to hear what's on his mind.

Are you serious? I don't think there was a sentence in that article that wasn't mean spirited.
Also, reason number 144 why Sony execs are douches: One hand doesn't talk to the other.

Yea, that was totally a slam directed at Microsoft. I'd really like to see the rest of the article, if only to see the rest of the tripe Dille spews forth.

Not much he could try to say bad about Nintendo I guess. Or he forgot. Oh but wait, they aren't "the competition" anyway.
