Iam just pointing out the genres Nntendo is lacking, neither do they have any core action game like God of war. They are missing half the genres that core gamers love, and all of them sale prety damn well so theres no reason for Nintendo not to invest in them.

Yes, there is. It's not their type of games. That does not however mean they won't license them if 3rd parties make them. Sony also doesn't make games in every single genre, EA itself misses a couple of genres. What's the big deal? Companies should first and foremost stick at they're good at.

Well if its not their type of games the wii sadly will never be my type of console.

Fair enough, that's one more for the rest of us.

Yes there will be LOTS of games for the hardcore .Mario in his various incarnations ,Zelda ,Metroid ,FZero and Smash Bros .Always the same .But this time they wont be even getting most third party hardcore games as Wii simply cant handle them .

What a surprise. So he's gonna come out and alienate people by saying you aren't the focus anymore.

Sure they got some core games coming (sequels) if they didn't have that much it would be an even worse backlash.

But where are the new projects? They are shifting focus, they will probably still have core games just less and less of them over time compared to the cheap to make and more profitable casual centric games.

Sequels to big franchises will come out later and new IPs will start up very rarely. This is all just predicting because of the ease and cheapness of making the casual games on the Wii as opposed to making big games. It just makes sense from a business perspective:

if your cheap games are outselling the more expensive games, why make more big games?

Do you really think Nintendo is that stupid to just focus on casuals? The casuals will evolve as well. Many casuals will become regular gamers. Then they will eventually want something more from their games and Nintendo and the third parties will be there. They will need to have more detailed games on an on going basis as well as entry level games to keep new gamers coming. No it does not make sense from a business perspective to focus on one group. People's taste change, the company must evolve with the consumer.

Nintendo could crap gold bars, package them in a silver box, and ship them to your doorstep for free and the fanboys would say "but they aren't platinum bars are they?" Give it up, logic doesn't work. If they wish to live so narrow-mindedly THEY are the ones missing some of the most incredible games of the generation and possibly of all time. We aren't losing anything. By limiting yourself to one system, or completely discounting other systems, you are only hurting your own gaming experience.

Oh, and Mrstickball, Mother 3 (the sequel to Earthbound, also known as Mother 2) was released on the GBA in Japan last generation. It has not been localized, and there are no plans to do so yet. There is however a site called http://starmen.net/ currently translating the rom if you wish to bookmark the site and play it when it's completed.

Neither could the DS, funny how that turned out 3 years later.  They don't even always have the same old IPs, you just don't notice the new ones.  The variety and quantity of games Nintendo has already published this generation is insane.  In this generation alone (the Wii and DS) Nintendo has published almost 100 games, and you know how many are casual?  about 20.

And the 360 and PS3 can't even handle a Wii Sports....supposedly a casual game. So much for all that power.

I think we're all well aware of your stance on the matter Blue3.

Ehh the DS got games like Dragon Quest and Contra 4 plus a lot of JRPG:s. So why shouldnt Wii be able to get support from 3rd parties? They already have a spinoff for Dragon Quest (that started good in Japan), one for Final Fantasy and one for Resident Evil. Wii also gets Nights from SEGA, plus a hell of a lot more.

Your statment is wrong on the fact that you belive that all games on the Wii will come from Nintendo alone. If Wii keeps on trucking in Japan, it will get japanese support just as the DS. Now I am not saying that MGS and so one will come to Wii, but new franshises might grow.

Not only that your statment: "but this time they wont be even getting most third party hardcore games" is wrong, becuase they didn't get that last gen either!!!

Buy it and pray to the gods of Sigs: Naznatips!

Board Idea is good, not a new idea! But I gather the games will be mini games or very childish. So no real win.

Question - what is the longevity of the Wii games with all the peripherals?
