Forums - Gaming Discussion - Bandai-Namco - Majority of today’s software will be forgotton

Namco, we will never forget the tales series. I know I won't. Vesperia was so amazing that it alone will make me always remember Tales.

Sorry Namdai, but your full of it. We haven't forgotten Doom now have we?

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

we will remember the big games that released like the big games that released 10 - 20 years ago.. the rest will be forgotten...

You are wrong Soriku. Everything that is popular in a generation is popular forever. Look at Sonic, Mortal Kombat, Tomb Raider, Crash Bandicoot, Need fo Speed, Megaman, Dynasty Warriors, Doom,Pac Man, Pitfall, Jak and Daxter, Donkey Kong. None of these series lost steam. They are as popular and relevant as the year they were released.

 Yet you still remember them.....

With games like these, who are they to judge?

I think the piles of low budget shovelware will be far more quickly forgotten than bid budget games such as Gears of War, Super Mario Galaxy, or Grand Theft Auto 4. Besides, the reason so many old games are remembered is because most of the nostalgic fanboys of today started, well, guess when? Not last thursday, but rather...the days of the NES and SNES! Or perhaps even earlier. Not only that, but with budgets the way they are, the amount of ridiculously niche or bold games with little potential to sell are going to fall drastically. Some of those games (Crue Ball comes to mind) are remembered simply for their wackiness. I'm sure that the millions of casual gamers who started this generation with the DS and Nintendogs will be looking back several generations from now, marveling at just how awesome and simple that Wii Sports game was.

Really? And what about Haze, Lair, Mercenaries, Codenmend, Turok, every single Madden, Def jam Icon, even Too Human? This's not about casuals and hardcore, this's about the lack of creativity in the industry, look at all the games that we get in the 80's: Castlevania (with new 2 games this year), Bionic Commando (a remake is in the making), MegaMan (with MegaMan 9 comming), Contra (Contra 4 is hard), Gradius (a new game was released in Japan a week ago), Tetris (comming to Wiiware), Final Fantasy (nobody knows this game), Dragon Quest (in Japan this game is totally unknown), those franchise are still alive not because of the nostalgia factor but because they're really unique at the time. But in this generation few games are unique and creative.

generation defining games like COD4, SMG, GTA4 ( not very good but it will be remembered), MGS4 etc will always be remembered, average to above avarage game will be forgotten, oh big stinkers like lair, haze and too human will also be remembered like daikatana is still well known.

@KingofWale

I don't read hands-on for games I have No interest in owning. I just know that whenever I see a thread concerning Killzone 2, a big part of it is graphics.

I wanted to harmlessly just use it as an example, but I guess you took offense or something.

Yeah. as long as people remember these games on internet forums, there is no chance the companies will sell the IPs for a quick buck. Crash, Prince of Persia and Tomb Raider are such precious memories to gamers that the companies would rather go bankrupt than sell then.

i definitely agree. most of those random racing games (not including mario kart,) all the FPS on the 360, tons of random games that appeal to 99% only americans, most games on the PS3 like Uncharted will be forgotten.

100% true.

Make a list of all the big budget games, easily more than half will be forgotten.

Here I will make a list for PS3.

Ratchet and Clank, MGS4, Uncharted, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Haze.

Out of those MGS4 will be remembered, Ratchet and Clank as well as Uncharted MIGHT have a chance, the rest just suck, of course this isn't all the games but you get my point.

Actually, despite their right to judge or not, they're absolutely right. Bioshock won't be remembered like LttP. Older games hold a nostalgia that new games can't overcome, no matter how good they are. The first of something is always the most fondly remembered. Them's the breaks.

MGS4, no matter how great, ain't gonna be remembered like Duck Hunt, lol. You're kidding yourselves, really.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
