360 needs to sell 110k in America to beat Ps3 this week.
360 needs to more than double from last week to do that...
We'll see.

Never. Legends never die, after all.
After it's discontinued it's going to the hall of legends, to drink a beer and play a game with the SNES, PS1, and DC.
Another week of expected sales. The PS3 is down 9k this week after going up 10k the previous week. Wii is still selling at a blistering pace and the 360 is still right at the same spot it was before the EU price cut. PSP sales are slipping, but I expect the 3000 along with Wi-LAN over PS3, and an intergrated store to really give it a boost. Also as this is in regard to EU I see the built in microphone being a very good selling point in this region.
As far as PS2 and its great numbers to this point. It is all is the design of the Playstation Model. I know many people want to hate the PS3 at the moment, but the PS2 is the Future of the PS3. The PS2 continues to sell well because it is a cheap gaming system with an increadable games line-up, it plays DVD's, and CD's. The PS2 is a great gift for all ages as it can cover a broad range of desires.
Now in 6 years from now think about were the PS3 will be.
note: I know the Wii is selling amazingly at the moment, but that does not mean the PS3 is selling horribly. PS3 is right on track to compete with its older siblings. It is right between PS1 and PS2 at this point in its life and remember there is still a lot left for this generation.
Back to 6 years from now. It is impossible to paint a perfect picture of the future so I want to make sure that everyone knows this is just a prediction based on past, and present. I see the PS3 six years from now going for 179.99 at retail for a 250GB SKU. The system will of course be slimmer, less power consuming, and it will feature a plethra of new features compared to the PS3 of now. This will be a PS3 with PS2 BC through software, but only for games bought off the PSStore. This future PS3 will have IPTV, allowing you to watch live TV over the internet, and recored up to 5 of your favorite shows at once. The Playstation store will have signifigant upgrades including subscription based services for music , movies, and TV. Playstation Home will be worlds beyond the basic image avalible to the lucky few today. People will be able to go Home and chat with the likes of Oprah, Larry King, and many more, in settings that mock their real world broadcasting locations.
The PS3 in 2014 will be an even better deal than the PS2 is today. We will be seeing people ask when will the PS3 hit $149, and man is the PS3 ever going to stop selling. I know there are many out there that would want to call this a fanboy dream, and that is fine. In this world we live in, the reall world, that includes billions of people and many contries. This world is full of people that never go on message boards, never pay attintion to games, and some the never have even heard of games. these people are a market that will continue to keep old systems alive and well. As long as Sony is the only one willing to support everyone, they will always sell the most consoles.
Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

i think once the price cut is in effect for a full week. then the 360 should post a massive boost for the 1st week or 2, we will know better picture once price drop is a month in.
if 360 sells more than ps3 in NA after price drop month, then microsoft strategy of concerning themselfs on units over profit would have worked, if it doesnt then its finished
...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...
PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk
really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...
regardless of it being just one day since the price cut, there should have been a spike in sales. Its like a release day of a new console or a new game. Most sales take place on the 1st day as everyone has been gearing up for the coming event.
many people said the 360 sales slowed down due to the anticipation for the cheaper arcade model. Had this been true, the sales would have been higher then what they are in others and it would show again in the NA market as well.
However, I do agree, maybe we will see a big change next week incase people have anticipated it, but not bothered rushing in to buy the alleged bargain since they know it will be there tomorrow and the day after. This could also mean, the demand is not so great and the price drop is being taken for granted.
It's a big gamble MS has taken, let's just see if it manages to pay off.

Oh sure it'll trail behind the Wii and PS3 in others, but it'll probably be the most successful third place console (second place before this gen) console in the others region. I'm not too worried about it. |
Every console is doing great in Others.
The PS3 is on track to beat the best year ever of the PS2 in Others which was 2003 ( and it cost twice what the PS2 was costing that year...).
It's the only market where the PS3 is able to sustain the legacy of the PS2.

This is what people have been saying since the PS3 launch. The wii is doing the business at the moment, but when they games for it dry up, where will people turn? The PS3! Microsoft will have a new console out soon, and that will cost more than a PS3...you know it makes sense
