Flash memory becomes cheaper and cheaper.
It's more practical than a blu-ray disc and doesn't need burner.
I think flash memory will kill blu-ray, not oled.

Samsung's exec is a moron. You only need a 75GB Blu-ray Disc for resolutions up to 2160p. Resolutions higher needs 100GB to 150GB. Unless we triple the resolutions to 12k+ I don't see us needing more then the 200GB Blu-ray disc for a long time or when internet speeds are 10000 times what they are now.

Flash Memories will replace the HDD long before physical storage discs. Electron Discs will be the next step up from Blu-ray and those might not be ready till 2020.

Well I think he may also be thinking of the TV being an information hub IE internet, and with Internet there is also streaming movies from companies like netflix so if you have HD movies at the ready from the net, easy to access from your home on directly on your TV, why would you need a disc?
Also the fact that there's cheaper and better technologies on the way, so there's multiple ways to think about it. DVD overtook VHS cause it was a prime time to do so, VHS had been out for a long time, VHS was harder to manufacture at MUCH lower qualities then DVD and VHS couldn't hold anywhere near as much as DVD, Blu-ray came when DVD is at it's prime, not dying like VHS was, and now we may go to a streaming format instead of disc so the fight may be lost before blu-ray could really take over.

What kind of player are you going to play that 75GB or 200GB Blu-ray disc on? Furthermore what production lines are going to produce them?
The fact of the matter is with the rushing of Blu-ray to market and the incomplete specs outlined you will only see a max of 50GB Blu-ray discs and 1080p video. Or are you going to force the consumer to buy a new player to play this imaginary disc?
Sorry but all these vaporware lab specs are just that....vaporware. They will never see the light of day in a retail format without totally alienating whatever base Blu ray manages to grow. I hate to throw in a crappy console analogy but people harp on MS for limiting devs by not including a HD through all SKU's but the BDA are guilty of the practically the same thing with Blu ray.

Posted yesterday. Why don't people check on these things before posting?

EDIT: Now I see why you posted this, off-topic doesn't show up on the front page anymore. When did that happen? (I put mine in off topic because this realy isn't a Sony issue nor does it have very much to do with gaming other than it's a Blu-ray format)

Sidetrack on what you say above, but LCD has been mainstream for a couple of years now, and I still can't afford a decent TV.
Only good that will come from the launch and market of OLED will be LCD will go down in price. I might be lucky enough to be able to buy one.
Hmm, pie.
@rasone: It's been there for months now. Besides, you can choose your own filtering for the front page.
