Console vs PC is a lose, lose, situation. Both are awesome, and both have advantages and disadvantages. This thread is not going to end well.....trust me lol.

Really? When did it become legal to make non-backup copies of game disc or cartidge data?

Unless you're going to raise the pirate flag you're going to be stuck shelling out at least 200 dollars for a functional copy of Windows in most cases. MAYBE 160 if you find the right OEM deal.

Personally I have no issue if you want to pirate Microsoft, I didn't even though I HATE them (Idiot I am I own both a legit copy of XP pro, then when I couldn't get it to see my wireless one day and wanted to try direct X 10 I used Vista Ultimate which is way way worse) but after using Vista I encourage all to pirate Vista. That will save you money since you won't have shelled out 200 dollars to be so appalled by Vista that you go back to XP.

 

   Thank god I only have to use Vista/XP for gaming, if it was my main OS I would go insane.

^ Hooray for free college student M$ software. I'm still surprised they are offering XP along with Vista for download.

Realisticaly, performce for the price always favours PCs soon after a new console is released ... I wouldn't be that surprised if by this time next year a $500 to $700 laptop outperforms the XBox 360 and PS3 when playing the same games.

Te reason for this is that the PS3 and XBox 360 are bound by the performance that was possible under certain cost and energy use requirements while using a 90nm process ... Today, many PC components are produced using a 55nm or 45nm process, and in the near future they will drop down to a 32nm manufacturing process which dramatically increases the performance at the same cost and energy requirements.

I don't have a problem with downloading and playing out of print games. I visit abandonware sites a few times a year and pick up old classics to try out.

Its a case where even if you wanted to give your money to the proper owner of the copyright you couldn't.

 

Yeah because watching movies on a 20" monitor (either too small or forcing you to sit at the desk) is so much better than watching movies like God intended them to be watched: On a big screen lying on the couch. Besides you show me a (commercial) movie that is available in higher resolution than 1080p. Upscaling a 1080p movie to 1200p will only introduce artifacts and make the image worse. Great!
