On the upside, if his monitor supports up to 1920x1200 that would be equivalent to a 1200p HD not some poor 1080 like your crappy 32'. His game will look better, sharper and more realistic.
Yeah because watching movies on a 20" monitor (either too small or forcing you to sit at the desk) is so much better than watching movies like God intended them to be watched: On a big screen lying on the couch. Besides you show me a (commercial) movie that is available in higher resolution than 1080p. Upscaling a 1080p movie to 1200p will only introduce artifacts and make the image worse. Great!
Also to be fair, if you are comparing the PC screen and display against your TV's then you are gonna need to add the cost of your 32' to your console.
