Forums - Sales - Wii Fit Outsells Mario Galaxy Worldwide

Imagine what the sales would be now if Wii fit wasn't in such a short supply.

And don't forget all the future games wich is developed for the balance board(I believe that the board will only be sold with Wii fit wich means people have to buy it or else they won't be able to play the upcoming games).

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

In less time too. Wow.

I found that especially funny (for different reasons than Rol, but his are completely valid and humorous too)

Super Mario Galaxy released in November 2007
Wii Fit released in January (to mid) 2008

Conclusion: Wii Fit released later than Super Mario Galaxy

Therefore: If Wii Fit had outsold Super Mario Galaxy ever in the next 1million years, it would have sold the same amount in less time..

so, having a title "Wii Fit Outsells Mario Galaxy Worldwide" quite obviously implies "In less time too"

not sure why i'm being so anal about that.. long day maybe

Think the 2.6 to 900k difference in Japan is the problem here... Or at least why it happened so fast.

Also WiiFit launched like Dec 3 07 in Japan so that is a far comparison.

But yea WiiFit is a monster. There nothing wrong with the sales of SMG however.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Let me pose this question: Is Wii Fit a better game then Super Mario Galaxy?

You're saying if a pile of shit is bought by 5 kids and the greatest thing ever is bought by 2, the pile of shit is better?

Just think of Nintendo.

*rolling around in cash*

Your logic is full of win.

OK.
Congrats to Wii Fit.
SMG sold well, too.

I think this shows that more units moved does not=better product. Not Necessarily.

It doesn't matter if Mario is a better game than Wii Fit.

As a "game," it's well nigh impossible to argue that the collection of mini-games in Wii Fit are better than Galaxy, but again; this is not the important issue.

Wii Fit simply has a broader demographic of potential consumers. Period.

Not because there is an inexhaustible pool of fat people who see a video game console and a scale as their magical ticket to non-fatness, or because gamers would rather balance on a scale or pantomime doing the hula hoop instead of play Brawl or Kart, but simply because there is a much smaller pool of people interested in playing an action platformer video game than something simpler and easier to get like Wii Sports or Wii Fit.

I can see why you are surprised by this.

Not only wrong, but ongoing wrong. It sure is looking like Wii Fit will be the best selling game of this era on a single platform and may give the multi-platform games a run for their money. Next target Halo 3.

Considering that both games have sold tremendously well (Wii Fit at 6.96m, Mario Galaxy at 6.86m) I'd say that there's plenty of room for both core and expanded audience games on the Wii.

There is 1 360 game (Halo) and 0 PS3 games that have sold as well as either.
