I, for one, agree with this article 100%. It amazes me how so many people keep defending Nintendo and its current line-up of games even though they are weak and casual.

Oh, and FYI, I have owned EVERY Nintendo console EVER released. This includes the Wii, which I traded it to get a PS3 metal gear bundle. I have supported Nintendo since 1985 with the original NES, but that time is over. I will never buy another Nintendo product EVER...

Oh well... That's just like saying how you feel abandoned by the Spanish Football Team that they won the Euro 2008 without Raul in the squad.

Honestly, it should be natural that Nintendo fans feel bad about themselves from 1996-2006 due to their favourite console being the absolute minority. Now that they have reclaimed the crown, you ought to "celebrate in the streets" with all those "newfound fans" (expanded audience), cheering at Nintendo as they wave their trophy onto the victory bus that passes by.

That's one of the best analogies I have ever read on this forum.

Oh really? Heh. That is something I have thought about for a very long time about those long time Nintendo fans that claim that they stuck with the company for 20 years! I mean, the Spanish team hasn't won a trophy for 40+ years and that they finally did it, just like how Nintendo have been trailing for 10 years (which is a long time when gaming is concerned).

Of course, Wii critics like this Edge editor can be compared to critics of the Italian team that won the 2006 World Cup (especially those that claimed that their football was "not beautiful"!)

Nintendo has never lost money and I don't know why anyone would care if a company is making tons of money or only a little money. That has nothing to do with any of this at all. This is about Nintendo changing their focus from core games to casual games, period. If you can't see that as the truth then you need not speak at all really.

You seem to have a problem that nobody is trying to refute your "Nintendo is all casual" argument.

What you said makes no sense...

Plus, I never said Nintendo is all casual. I said they shifted their focus to casual.

But all announced Nintendo games are casual. How can you claim that they are still making core games?

OK, I am done with this thread since you are making no sense. I never said anything about all announced games being casual, I never said anything about there being 0 core games. I said they shifted their focus. Apparently you are dumb and I am done...

Put on your glasses and look who you're talking to.

Rol, I figured that someday you'd have to change your style of writing since everyone would catch onto it, but apparently I was mistaken. I can see how you have a lot of fun with this.

If Rol were the only person to comment on this entire forum, I'd still read it. His sarcasm is so sharp I bet he could even fool himself.

I can't believe that I read that entire article. That's a huge chunk of time in my life that I can't get back. Nintendo is forgetting about there franchises and at the same time milking them. Doesn't that pretty much sum up the hypocritical nature of this wonderfully written piece...... ?

ARTICLE (My additions) said:

1. Shigeru Miyamoto is no longer the man who made Donkey Kong

He's the guy who keeps pushing the envelope.

He makes Mario Galaxy which pushes graphic and level design.

He makes Wii Sports, the first successful motion game.

He makes Zelda:Twilight Princess and Wind Waker.

2. Nintendo is not, actually, a videogame company

Huh? Nintendo doesn't cause contraversy like GTA so they don't make videogames?  Wow. Pretty stupid.

Naming a console Wii and including motion control caused more contraversy than any GTA.  Just not contraversy about violence.  Instead, they disrupt the market and include people.  While GTA excludes.

3. Making Nintendo games for hardcore gamers is difficult

Something about upturning the tea table and then misapplying the phrase.

Nintendo is perfectly capable of making a game without disrupting, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Mario Kart Wii, and Zelda are hardly innovative.  They are solid and fun sequels.

Meanwhile games like Pikmin and Super Mario Galaxy

4. Making Nintendo games for casual gamers is easier

So far Nintendo has been able to make just as many or more first party gore games as N64 and Gamecube.  They have been able to maximize revenue by making two very solid line-ups.

5.  Even Nintendo’s ‘hardcore’ games are no longer hardcore

Galaxy's first 60 stars are easier to get than Super Mario 64's first 60.  The later 60 are debatable.  But is it we are more used to 3d games, are using better controls, and better level design or is it just easier.  I think it falls somewhere in between.

The author doesn't use a consistent definition of hardcore.  In the earlier statements, he uses "hardcore" to describe the similar artstyle or controls, now he uses it for difficulty.

Anyway, this is a pretty narrow view of gaming.  A hardcore gamer enjoys many types of games.  If they don't than they are a hardcore FPS fan, or Sports fan, etc.

6. Focusing on hardcore users didn’t work last time around

The author starts an entirely new subject, based on his previous argument being correct.  Which I have proven it is a matter of opinion and that he has not included enough evidence to convince me to think alike.

7. Nintendo is not giving fans the IP they keep asking for

The fastest way to kill a strong artistic brand is to give the fans what they want.  It hardly ever produces a spectacular product.  See: Star Wars Prequels Show All battles, Spiderman 3's Venom, Zelda:TP's return to a mature artsyle,

8. At Nintendo, online is an option, not an essential

Hasn't hurt the sales of hardcore titles.  Hasn't hurt any review scores for Galaxy, Zelda.  It hasn't prevented Mario Kart from becoming one of the most played-online games ever.  I don't have numbers, but I'm sure it is played online more than any other racing game; and probably compares pretty well to COD, Halo, or Gears of War.

9. Third-party publishers like Nintendo just the way it is

What does third party behavior have to do with Nintendo.  There are arguments to support this, but he doesn't use these.

Nintendo is encouraging third parties to innovate by providing a platform (Wii and Wii Ware) that is easy and cheap to develop for.

10. Nobody else does Nintendo games as well as Nintendo

Huh?

Yeah.  I'm just saying.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Can anyone name three hardcore games for the wii?

Love is whats most important.

By asking such a question, you're either being ignorant or sarcastic.   Care to say which?

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

We don't name games. We train them.
