I am not seeing how GTA4 can stop HALO3, nor why anyone would want to stop HALO3 (clearly there are a lot of people who like it a lot).

HALO3 is like Super Smash Bros, will sell a big chunk to it's existing intended audience, but won't sell outside that core group.

And you know what, that's fine too.

MP3 is not meant to battle Halo 3. Actually MP and Halo aren't anything alike. And really Metroid is a better series than Halo could ever wish to be. Should be the other way around not trying to kill Halo cause Metroid is the longer standing and overall better series.

But MP3 is a very hardcore game. More so than Halo. Halo can be played by kids, adults, core gamers, ect. It's a simple game compared to Metroid. Metroid is a difficult game that is for the fanbase. It's not for kids or for the less core gamers or what not. It is simply for the hardcore gamer. Thus it'll never reach extremely high sales. At the Most MP3 will sale 3 million worldwide.

But MP3, like Zelda: TP, gives the hardcore gamer the best that's out there just strengthening Wii's lineups. Games that are similar to what Halo is doing would be Galaxy and Smash Bros Brawl. Like Halo these titles can appeal to more than just outside hardcore gamer, something Metroid hasn't and never can do because of it's game setup. But MP3 will push some hardware and is a good edition for the Wii lineup overall.

Peripherals can succeed. Look at Guitar Hero or even the PS2 Eyetoy.

If they make a game that really captures an audience with the peripheral people will buy it.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Soon enough there will be far more people in the world who own a Wii than owned a Dance Mat, Bongo Drums, and Guitar add on combined. 5 Million sold of a peripheral is amazingly successful, but is not high enough sales to make it particularly worthwhile to implement features in a game that take advantage of the add on.

@mrstickball: There are still a lot of people, who likes FP:s among other games, and haven't yet made their mind. 360 have had bad press with quality issues, which makes people to think again which console to buy. Of course, 360 owners buy Halo 3, and to this group MP3 doesn't have effect, but the people, who doesn't yet own 360 or Wii, good rewiews may turn them to buy Wii. After all, if the control mechanics are good in MP3, Wii has proven itself to be good in first person games, and once someone have succeeded in controls, others will most likely follow.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

It's not meant to counter Halo directly. It is meant to keep the amount of core games on the Wii fleshed out, but as an adventure game it's no more a direct Halo counter than Zelda is. It's simply another part of the very impressive whole.

I don't know if I could call the eye toy a success... I guess it wasn't a failure technically.

News is out that Microsoft will further reach out (First Attempt: Overly Hype Pinata Game)

What are you thoughts?

My first thought was that you obviously haven't played Viva Pinata otherwise you'd know it wasn't hyped, and my second thought is that it makes the rest of your post not worth reading or taking seriously do I did neither.

Exactly. Anyone who rips Viva obviously hasn't played the game. Even if you don't like sims, it's incredibly solid all-around.

Sure can the problem is, most people only use them for 1 game at best. I don't know of any other games that use the guitar.. People buy them because of that one game. I don't see any developers building games for that guitar..

The point I was making is developers will make something unique at times and it will work for big hits like Guitar Hero but bottom line is developers want to build games to the lowest common denominator. Adding a periphrial to EVERY game is just pointless as it increases cost all around and not every game is gonna be as popular as guitar hero. Developers will continue to build to the lowest common denominator.

As everyone is saying MP3 isnt going after halo3.. but smash brothers is a different story i know alot of halo fans that would have a hard time chosing between the two if they were released around the same time.. i doubt this will happen but its more of a possibility then prime3
