Take from this what you will.

Reeves doesn't know when to quit talking, it seems.

Is he on damage control mode after FF13? I think so

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

Bet they could secure the exclusivity rights to Ninjabreadman 3 for less than $10,000,000.

If these means they'll keep buying more devs, preferably Level 5, then I'm all for it.

They seem to have an eye for good devs (Media Molecule, etc.) even if those may not look so great at first (Guerrilla). Once they come under Sony's wing, they usually improve quite a bit as well (like I said, Guerrilla), due to added resources and strong working relationships with Sony's other developers.

In my opinion, expanding their own first party is the best thing they could do, and I really hope they keep doing it. Over the last two years alone they've acquired three developers - Zipper Interactive, Evolution Studios, and Guerrilla Games, two of which will be releasing games in the next six months.

This is the wave of the future. More timed exlusives for both MS and Sony not many more EXCLUSIVE

PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

Currently playing Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, Fallout 3, Halo ODST and Dragon Age Origins is next game

For what its worth; I agree and think they'll have a hard time getting exclusives. If you don't have the worlds deepest wallet (allthough, MS do not have the capacity to spend unwittingly either, believe me) and prove unable to follow up on an insane success this is how it'll go in the end.
I also agree with makingmusic though; more 1st or 2nd party developers is a good thing quality wise and would ensure more quality titles land on the platform that are tailored for the hardware and the consoles' owners.

"We have to accept more and more that platform holders themselves cannot have exclusives unless they're given millions and millions of dollars not to develop a particular game for one particular platform.

"But for developers, and you could take someone like Quantic Dream for example - a great game, it takes a lot of time to develop, they need a little bit of funding, external development. In exchange, it's exclusive - that works. So exclusivity possibly with developers is more likely that exclusivity with publishers."

Seems reasonable to me.

@Makingmusic: But at the same time they have been kicking their own staff out. Maybe they've been interested in certain IP:s (and of course the studios).

Ei Kiinasti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Huh?  Who have they kicked out?

From what I've seen, they've only been expanding development.  Geurrilla Games had a staff of ~40 developers when making Killzone and Killzone: Liberation, but now they've passed the 150 mark, with almost every member of the original team still there.  Similar things are happening for other teams as well.  From what I hear, Fumito Ueda now has almost free reign at SCEI, after Ico and Shadow of the Colossus (though due to his perfectionist nature he hasn't hired more than 20-30 staff).

Every other developer they own continues to pump out IPs, and I'm sure all those who have moved to ps3 development have had to increase their team sizes at least somewhat (except for maybe Sony Bend, who basically works on nothing but PSP titles now).
