I don't believe Wii gamers would follow reviews.. I don't believe Wii gamers even follow reviews... (looking at you cookingmama & gameparty) I think it's safe to say those Wii gamers aren't hardcore =.=;

I'm picking a few copies up but first day.. I don't know, I'll read some reviews first. ;)

Just because a title isn't hardcore doesn't mean it isn't still a good game.  Like Brain Age for instance.

The thing I worry about are the foolhardy "Nintendo Hardcore Fanboys."  These are the jackasses that buy anything so long as Mario or Pikachu is slathered across it.  These are the people who  buy poorly rated uninventive nonsense like Mario Party 8, but look the other way to highly rated 3rd party software that sometimes costs less than the low-rated 1st party shlock.    You know, the people who constantly repeat the line, "just waiting for the new Mario, Zelda, and Metroid game."  These are the biggest threat to Nintendo's success because all they do is reinforce the stereotype that "only Nintendo games sell on Nintendo systems."

So, any jackass that you talk to that buys Nintendo systems and only sets his sights on a few 1st party franchises--punch him in the face and tell him how much of a selfish, close-minded ass he is.

Ever since the days of the N64, the Nintendo fans have been the biggest obstacle to 3rd party success on the Nintendo systems, and as an extension, they've also been the biggest threat to Nintendo's actual success.  Personally, I've sworn off 1st party titles for the Wii for a while.  I'm sick of the whole Mario Kart franchise anyway.  And if I waste my time focusing only on Nintendo's crap, I end up missing out on games like No More Heroes, Geometry Wars, Blast Works, Okami, etc.

It's the irony I've noticed for a long time--the biggest Nintendo fans are often the ones doing the most damage to the image of their consoles because they focus way too much on just Nintendo's franchises.

I've been hoping things would turn around with the Wii and DS, but still too many of these assholes continued to turn their backs on Contra 4, Geometry Wars, No More Heroes, Assassin's Creed DS, Dementium, Okami, Ninja Gaiden DS, and a wealth of other higher quality 3rd party titles.

No.

We should make an informed decision on the purchase.

Dude, really? After all the pro-LBP stuff you've been backing or stating yourself, this is just hypocritical. You guys are all like "LBP first day purchase for me!" but if people want to be all "Conduit, first day purchase for me!" its somehow foolish? Come on now, lets not do the pot/kettle thing.

That's not the point. The OP stated that the Conduit should be purchased regardless of quality for the reason that it will encourage third parties to offer like minded games on the console and because High Voltage talks to Wii veteran gamers' sympathies in their interviews. Those, in my mind, are not reasons to purchase a game.

While I agree, its hypocrisy such as this that promotes fanboyism on the site. As a newly appointed mod, you should be trying to clear that from the site from all angles. Unless of course, you actually LIKE sites like Gamespot.com.

count me in

Improvements are caused by people who complain

Well, the previews and hands on time by most gaming sites has been extremely positive. Most of the times when this is the case, the games turn out to be great. So here is for hoping.

If your idea of a developer trying is adding in voice chat support and online multiplayer then you must have really low expectations for your Wii games, or you're just that desperate to have such basic features in a game that should include them by default. I could name you a laundry list of games on other consoles and the PC that have both features and suck donkey balls(figuratively, not literally). The Conduit should not be praised for offering such basic features that became mainstays years ago just because other developers haven't bothered wrestling with Nintendo's assbackwards online setup. Talk about graphics, talk about customized controls, but don't tell me to buy a $50 game just because it has online and voice chat. Even DS games have that.

I know that those are basic features but compare to the wii there are good tell me about a wii game that has a decent online that is not first party(ssbb online sucks though)? The only one that comes to my mind is Medal of Honor:Heroes 2.

That doesn't make the game better than what it really is. The Conduit is a big fish in a small pond, nothing more. It happens to benefit from coming out after Wii Speak releases, but shouldn't be given credit for utilising it. If Nintendo had made the good decision to have Wii Speak available at launch, I'm sure many games would have implemented it by now. High Voltage is taking advantage of the bad decisions Nintendo has made and playing up the emotions of disheartened Wii owners like yourself.

As an example, here's the difference between The Conduit and the other most anticipated 3rd party release of 2009, MadWorld. High Voltage talks up how Wii owners aren't getting a fair shake, talks about why their games have sucked in the past, talks about graphics, and talks and talks to sell their game. Platinum Games doesn't talk nearly as much, they just show us MadWorld and it speaks for itself. It's the difference between a developer having to hype their game and the game hyping itself.

MadWorld is unique and stylish, and would be welcome on any console or PC's gaming library with open arms. Why? Because it looks amazing. The Conduit would get pushed under the rug if it were on any other console or the PC. Why? Because what it offers isn't unique or spectacular at all. Everything it offers takes advantage of the Wii's weaknesses. Poor graphics. Poor online. No voice chat. No third party support. The things it doesn't take advantage of are the things that would make it stand out from other first person shooters. Unique setup. Fresh gameplay. Great story. Robust online. Like I said in the beginning, The Conduit is simply the big fish in a small pond, and as soon as more of those fish enter the waters, The Conduit will quickly begin to show it's age.

Bottom line is, if you're going to tell people to buy a game to prove a point, then at least tell them to buy MadWorld. That is the team that is really trying here for something special and irreplaceable in a gamer's library.

I agree with everything you say about Madworld, but I don't think you are giving enough credit where credit is due with The Conduit. High Voltage wouldn't have had any hype in the first place if it wasn't for the rest of the gaming sites singing praise about the games controls and fluid graphics. That is when HVS came out and started honking their own horn (good marketing on their part).

The Conduit does look a little generic at the moment, but does have it's bright spots, and they do have lots of time to improve upon certain things.

So, in conclusion, HVS were not the only people saying their game was going to be awesome, but i do agree with you to a certain extent.

Just kiss the tip.

I think I will buy it. Even it if it turns out to be a generic shooter, the control with the wiimote will make it much better for me. I HATE gamepad-controls in action-games.

I'm in.

I probably won't buy it.

The developers have spent way to much time angsting over the Wii and Wii owners to bother telling me why I should purchase their game.
