How could anyone say this is copying Nintendogs? First of all, it looks considerably better than Nintendogs, second, there have been thousands of virtual animal games, and Nintendogs isn't even the most similar one to this game.
What a stupid comparison.

Before I saw the video, I thought 'Nintendog ripoff", cuz I figured you'd just use the camera to pet, throw a frisbee, etc. But this really does look innovative. I can't see it selling too well, though, because of the cost barrier to entry. $399 cheapest PS3 model+$40 camera(right?)+$60 game. As different as the games are, I see most parents buying a DS and Nintendogs instead of this.
For all you people who didn't watch the video (aka the people who are claiming this is like Nintendogs)

I kind of doubt it will be $60. Maybe a $40 retail/PSN release (or possibly cheaper). I wasn't really interested in this when I first heard, but watching that video made it seem pretty fun. Though I am more interested in turning a 2d drawing into a 3d object, that you can then interact with, than the actual pets lol.
Anyways, the EyeToy was popular in Europe, and this kind of game seems like it would be popular there. I expect this to do pretty well.

This will probably be downloadable off the PSN for like 30-40$, maybe less.

I wouldn't count on that, that is not the best way to appeal to casuals.
I would imagine something like Singstar, Game + Periphial for $60.
looks like it would be fun for 15 minutes
