I'm not 100 percent sure that NPD tracks Wii-Sports, but VGChartz does. Does that have an effect?

So Wii software is in the same vicinity as NPD, when wii sports is included........but there is a large discrepancy with PS3 software. Any particular reasons popping into anyone's mind?

MGS 4 bundles could be a bit, but still not a lot. 896K is all it has sold at the moment of this I believe. (End of June)

Was Motorstorm bundled?  If you take out Resistance and Motorstorm completely (overcomensate), it's still more than 20% off.

I forgot about them taking out the MGS4 bundles.........but still, like you said, somethings way off in either VGC's or NPD's America software. It's quite odd. Any explanations ioi (or the mod team?).

 

Interesting graph, even taking away Wii Play Wii is still well ahead of 360.

Those look about right from that graph.

Wii & PS3 have been tracked by NPD through 20 months, but I'll assume this graph is through June and not May as launch month wasn't a full month of release.

NPD HW LTDs through first 20 months:

Wii: 10.9m
360: 5.8m
PS3: 4.9m

Attach rates:

360: 5.69
Wii: 5.05
PS3: 4.49

Wii Play had sold 6.12m through this period according to NPD, so if you consider it a peripheral the attach rate would change to:

360: 5.69
PS3: 4.49
Wii: 4.48

hmmm... that means the PS3 sells twice as much third-party per console as the Wii, which because the Wii has twice as large a userbase, it means.............absolutely nothing............darn.  (j/k)

OT: I can see why people say the Wii doesn't sell SW though. It's because they suffer from the same malady as the people who say the PS3 has no games: they live in Oct, 2007.

I thought it might be a graph pulled from NPD. I'd assumed that since NPD has Nintendo's permission to release their sales figures, they might also have the right to use their official logo. Granted, I didn't think it through thorougly at the time, I didn't even notice the logo till after I had posted, yet before you mentioned my mistake, and didn't give it much thought at the time. Just what I mentioned above. Couple that with the obvious question of why the hell Nintendo is releasing NPD graph data comparing software sales, and you got what happened in a nutshell. A mistake was made. A victimless crime. Zenfoldor, the culprit.

Nintendo has had about 31 million in NA and Canada for first party titles, with out Wii Fit.

Do those numbers include Canada?

Either way, on Americas on VGC, you have 81 million - 13.3 for Wii Sports and 31 for other first party titles.

That's about 37 million Wii Third Party games in Americas.
