Now admittedly, today is a little bit different. There are actually other active console makers (which there really was not by that time. Atari was doing computers, Coleco went under, Mattel sold out, and Magnavox had gotten out). Nevertheless, the reaction to the Wii – and its success – is still the same. So contrary to what some may think – Nintendo did not and "ruin" gaming and is not "ruining" gaming. It is merely starting the next evolution in gaming.

In fact ,dumbing down the games ,making a step back in graphics and sound(wich the NES didnt at all from the competing crew) ,offering a really poor online and diminishing the amount of inputs to control games to provide a simpler but for all publics experience is ruining gaming .At least for core and hardcore gamers.Senior citizens and soccer moms would think otherwise ,though.

Lol sorry but they didn’t go back in the graphical department they just didn’t have a big of an improvement as the 360/PS3 and the thing with the Wii-mote is that you can have the best of both worlds the core and casual. So you don’t think allot of the games fore 360/ps3 can be made better with the Wii-mote?

edit: 100 post :D.. :P

THe Wii isnt a single step ahead the Xbox1 after most developers words ,so well ,if you want it that way  well it didnt go back in graphics but whats for sure is it didnt go ahead.

The thing with the Wiimote is that you cant have the best of both worlds. For most game genres ,the controller is just lacking.Lacking in number of inputs ,lacking in precision ...

And no ,I dont think a lot of the games for 360 and PS3 could be made better with the Wiimote. In fact ,I think most games would suck with the wiimote. Not saying that maybe some games couldnt benefit, but hardly a lot of them.

Correction, Wii is ruining HARDCORE gaming (stupidly complicated controllers, violent and immature games, hostile online community, expensive technology, etc) and it was about damn time.

My condolences.

Only one developer has ever said that. They were unaware of the Wii's TeV units, and said the Xbox could pull off programmable shaders while the Wii couldn't. When realistically the Wii's TeV(Texture Environment Unit) is capable of anything the Xbox's gpu could do, and more. This is without mentioning more ram, at  much higher bandwidths, and a more efficient Cpu, Gpu architecture running at around the same clock speed. Examples of games far ahead of what the xbox could do are Metroid Prime 3, and Super mario Galaxy. Super Mario Galaxy used alot more effects than any xbox game, with better quality textures and lighting, and about the same amount of polygons to more depending on areas. All of this while the game runs at 60fps with few framerate drops.

but I'm still not convinced by the Wii trend... ok they'll win this gen.... but what next ????

They will win the next one, of course.

everybody with motion control ????

Yup

do you really think casual are about to renew their console like hardcore gamer do ???

Maybe. All the hardcores were casuals in the beginning so why not?

I don't know... the receipe was the good one this gen... next we'll see...

LOL! Do you Really think that Nintendo is that dumb to repeat the same recipe again? They are not sony nor microsoft in case you didn't noticed it. They learned their mistakes with the N64 and the GC.

so yeah I'll say it again nintendo is good at implementing concepts, and to adapt their old IPs to it... and certainly not at really inovating.... motion control is not a new concept....

So? Blu ray is new and is not working. HD is new and is not working. Technology is never everything without a good concept o back it up.

Let's face my friend. Hardcore gaming, as we know it, is coming to an end. And that's great.

Sorry

Well according to spec numbers it is more powerful maybe not by much but still it is. If you look at the GC it was less powerful yet it cold do games that look as good as the xbox. Anyway I am not good with spec numbers and the technical stuff, if somebody can explain pleas do fore the hundredth of time :P.

If you look at how GOW plays it doesn’t use all the buttons and the developer at epic games would have liked a controller with less buttons. It is in how creative you are not in how many buttons the thing has. And frankly I think allot of developers lack in this department.

Halo (ore any FPS/A) would be grate with the pointer and I think you agree on that. And now with WiiM+ things will get even better

Who are you trying to convince with this? Did you just feel like writing a nice little essay, or did you actually think you would change the mind of some detractors? Or did you just want some high fives from other Nintendo fans?

No, I really am curious why people bother writing things like this.

To annoy you.
