Now... i fully respect ioi's decision to stand by his number..

 

but this PS3 shortage he claimed? most of us haven't seen any shortage in store.. or online.

 

So.. what if NPD shows normal PS3 sales number, while VGC only shows half of NPD total PS3 sold in the month of July?. What then?

Should ioi question his sources? or get new/better sources?

if you don't take in account of what Sony had in store before the current quarter of shipment.. as well as making assumptions of how many is left in store after the period.

kinda silly for us to say "oh, sony's shipment number.. *blah blah blah*.. when we dismiss openly of any company's shipment number as "just shipped, not sold to customers"

I don't see any reason to assume that VGC and NPD will be vastly different. Probably will just be marginally different as it is almost every month due to differences in methods and samples.

How?  Did Sony release numbers for the United States?  If not I would like to know how comparing VGC and NPD is even logical.

What is normal? Before MGS4, because that is what is going to be like if not worse. All you have to do is look at Japan and see that it is back to normal pre MGS4 hardware levels.

Sorry but the 40GBs are extremly limited and many, many places have not seen shipments for quite some time. When Amazon runs out you know you have a problem. What is more is the big box retail ran out well before that for many areas.

80GBs are limited as well although shipments coming every 1 to 2 weeks. However only so many people are willing to buy a $500 console. If people are only willing to spend $400 and the only thing you see is the $500 SKU every now and again your going to pass it over like it wasn't even there.

On top of that you have people waiting for the new 80GBs since Sony announced to the world you can get more for your money if you wait 2 months.

If anything signs could point to even lower sales then you might think.
