Wow. An all-Nintendo top 10, with three games rated in the 90s on a 10 point scale.

You need to start from scratch with the game rankings, ioi.

1. Throw out all the current data.
2. One vote per person.
3. Fix the >10/

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

4. Only letting voting occur for games released in North America. (I doubt 139 people here have played Phantom Hourglass.

I disagree with this. What about games which have never been release in the States, yet are still great games? While I don't know how many Japanese people frequent the site, do their opinions not count?

As to how many people have played PH, while it isn't available in the states, it certainly is available to those who know where to look on the Internet, and while we can argue the details of 'piracy', does a vote only count if you legally own the game?

Actually KruzeS what I've seen is that the userbase of this site is immature and irresponsible and clearly allowing the privilege of ranking a person's favorite games was a mistake and should be revoked. I've been saying all along that the system isn't working and isn't going to work as it is -- only fanboys are really motivated to go and vote on old games from years and years ago.

@DKII

Unfortunately and thanks to all the user generated content, the userbase reflects on the site. You probably don't dissociate Slashdot or Digg from it's users, same as with IMDB. It's a sad reality, but it's true.

Also, I apreciate it that you're being vocal about it, in particular because you're a mod who probably has a better chance of being heard. But the powers that be have been pretty insistent at saying eveything is fine, and ignoring any suggestions for improvement (most of which are nothing new, just tried and proved ideas).

Reality has a Nintendo bias.

I'm sorry, but finding a 99 ranked game on a 10 point scale is freaking hilarious. It just shows how far some people will go to have their favorite game at the top :p

Stupid... stupid fanboys.

It seems the mods need help with this forum.  I have zero tolerance for trolling, platform criticism (Rule 4), and poster bad-mouthing (Rule 3.4) and you will be reported.

Review before posting: http://vgchartz.com/forum/rules.php

yeah it's pretty easy to hack the voting system.

If you have any debugging tools on your browser (such as firebug) you can simply change the "value" field of any of the checkboxes and it appears the voting script will simply take that value. You can even give a game a negative score, which I did on some crappy game here just to test it out:

This goes to show, ioi, that you should ALWAYS do sanity checks on your incoming data, especially if it comes from an untrusted source (such as a website) since it's very easy to change these things. This kind of stuff should be implemented with server side checking, your vote script should make sure that the value is valid before accepting it.

I recommend you reimplement the voting script and reset the votes.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

I second that.

I find it weird that Games have now 99 scores and also, how come it's all Nintendo?

Sorry but even though I'm falling more into the Nintendo Fangirl category, I would give FFX a 10 anyday, Star Ocean 3 a 9... They're all games on PS2, from Sony a company that I don't like, but the games are great on it!

That's what I call unbiased. We should all vote like that. Who cares if a game it's on X console, if it's great, it deserves a high note... Remember we're voting for the games, not the consoles!

Ah lolita...... so young, so naive. If only we lived in a perfect world.

Back to reality.... FANBOYS/GIRLS.

Personally, I only vote on games that I have reviewed, and I only review games that I have played. I voted on a couple of games before the review tab was up, though.
