I find hard to believe that for example Call of Duty 3 did some 15K last week on the PS3 in its first week but being a 7 month old game already released on other systems and being a FPS that the japanese doesnt like too much ... and Folklore wich is a exclusive game of good quality and of one of the genres the japanese like most as the RPG and monster-capturing cant do its first week more than just 1K more ......

This must have some explanation ,maybe the stores effectively only purchased some 20K units of Folklore for its first week .

This is precisely what happened. All these tales of pre-orders are from the retailers. There were pre-orders of 20k for FolksSoul, so you shouldn't expect more sales than that. 15k isn't bad, that means they sold 75% of stock, and probably sold out in a number of stores

The problem was never the game. It's the retailers orders that doomed this game from the gate.

Edit: Thanks for the numbers, y-koron. Always a pleasure

360 around 5k? Nice, I thought it would drop to about 3k, especially since TB sold less than 10k in its second week.

That is what was rumored- that stores only ordered 20k of them in total.

Looks like the preliminary numbers i posted were right on a slim majority of items from famitsu, which is about what they should be indicated week to week.

PS3 fell between 9.5-10k, 360 between 4-6k, and Wii was near 68k..underestimated DS though.

Zelda fell into the 280k to 380k range.

Saints Row & Hajime no Ippo: Revolution both did fairly well and slightly better than expected.

Folk Soul a little stronger than expected

Itadaki Street was underestimated pretty badly though..

we'll see what numbers ioi & mc come up with later today.

You expected more than 300k for zelda? cool.

Don't expect Zelda to have legs as the people who wanted it (most of 'em) already got it on release.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

Well, Phantom Hourglass is designed as a mix of hardcore and casual game. It could really have some legs.

Twilight Princess was much more for the hardcore crowd but it sold less than 200k the first week and is now at nearly 500k - double of that!

I expect Phantom Hourglass will sell between 700k- 1 million in Japan...but who knows?

Riiiigghhht, because Nintendo games sell quickly then fall off the charts. Nevermind that 13 of the top 20 games in Japan have been on the charts longer than 10 weeks and all of those 13 games are for Nintendo platforms.

Really, do you even think about your statements before you post them?
