nintendo......

it depends on "who" does not know. If it's some random dude in nintendo who cares. I am pretty sure all the important people know.

Now Playing: The Witcher (PC)

Consoles Owned: NES, SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, Wii, Xbox 360, Game Boy, DS

this almost confirms that this game wont be releasing this year in the west.

Denise Kaigler is VP of marketing and corporate affairs, Perrin's replacement basically.

It is quite sad the vp of marketing doesn't know about a game coming up but it probably won't be releasing here this year. And considering how Nintendo doesn't like to market games too far in advance I wouldn't be surprised if they only catch her up to date on games coming out soon.

Still... pretty f'ed up if she's out giving interviews and isn't informed about all the projects.

"Worryingly, Nintendo of America aren't even aware of the product, according to GoNintendo."

What exactly does that mean? Considering that the series has always had solid sales here in the west, it would be silly not to release it here. It would be equally silly that Nintendo of America doesn't know this game exists, since that's a large chunk of their job. So...what do they mean by "aren't even aware of the product"?

During my interview with Denise Kaigler, I did manage to slip in a few ‘traditional’ questions. One of my inquiries related to Fatal Frame IV for the Wii. I wanted to know why we didn’t hear about it at the conference, and why it wasn’t on the show floor, or in Nintendo’s meeting room. I was a bit surprised to find out that no one during my meeting had even heard of the game. They weren’t familiar with the title at all. I thought for sure they would know the game I was talking about, considering Nintendo is publishing the title in Japan! I have no idea what this response means for the future of the series in the states, but I am sure the game will see a launch here at some point.

What is interesting is that the piece starts out talking about what seems to be a one-on-one interview. Then the pronouns switch to the plural.

That is just strange the way it is structured.

Also, last time I looked, Tecmo was a separate company. It might be publishing the game in the west, which would explain why the NOA people have not heard of it. (Mario and Sonic had different publishers in different regions, so this can happen.)

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

NOA didn't know about Warioland until a couple of weeks ago, so this can't be considered as "News"

wow, strange...

Thanks for posting the rest. I'd read it already, but I still don't quite understand what it means. Does this just means Nintendo's marketing department doesn't know about the game, or does the ignorance stretch to the folks who'll be doing the localization?

And while Tecmo might be doing the localization, I doubt it. From what I understand, Nintendo bankrolled the title: it's unlikely they'll let someone else reap the rewards for it. By contrast, I believe Mario & Sonic was jointly funded, and it was understood that Sega would handle the publishing outside of Japan. But I could be wrong about all of this (it's been a while since I read those things).

I'm just hoping no one told marketing about this yet, since it's not coming out for a few months.
