Didn't the EU get a price cut as well?

no official ones, although retailers are cutting prices

Interesting, I would've thought that M$ would want to fight back in EU as Sony is currently breezing by them there.

When its not selling...its not selling. Isn't the arcade model half of the price of ps3 in europe? I don't think they can go much lower than that.

I'm European (that moved to Canada as a kid) and generally speaking Europeans have this strange attitude that most expensive is the best. And they want to own the best...So 360 could be free and some people would still buy the ps3. Rarely will they think that something that is cheaper can be jsut as good if not better than the more expensive product.

Really? If thats true, then Europeans have a "unique" view on consumer products. I think most people think that way but end up getting the most practical anyway. Your point fails with respect to last gen though because the xbox was more expensive.

My 2 cents: perhaps the EU doesn't wan't the xbox 360 because it is American and thus percieved as anti-soccer lol.

I laugh at those (Sony fans) saying "I expected much more" When Sony did the same bullshit 'price drop' last year with the re-shuffle of 20/60/80G and it had even less effect.

Or again with the 40G... This one seems to have had a sustained effect luckily for Sony... but weekly sales then barely doubled (35k > 70k I think) despite a $100! price drop.

I'm no fan of MS or the 360 but the stupidity of fanboys like that makes me angry.

At that time, I think most people assumed the ps3 was dead. That was when I got my 60gb though!

This doesn't seem like much of a win for MS, though I suppose we'll see what things look like when the 60GB units hit the shelf. If the best they can do is tie the PS3 in WW sales for a week, then they haven't done anything of much significace.

Oh, and it's very unlikely they'll be putting the 60GB SKU at $300 anytime soon. They'd have an exceptionally hard time selling those core/arcade models unless they got a cut too.

You do not have the right to never be offended.

Interesting. Very good boost for the X360. Big question is how long this boost lasts.

Also, unless VGC overtracks PS3 sales this week, the PS3 won't sell 15k units even with it's new game this week - 12-13k is more likely.

Nevertheless, it's a first for the year...Which is good. I wonder what'll happen if MS kept the $299 price point for the 60GB 360? Hopefully this sends MS a clear signal that if they want to sell more units, to lower the D*** price.

You mean like its been overtracking the 360 for a while now?

Looks like the next NPD may have something for MS to crow about - maybe...

MS is not going to roll over, and take a "loss" to the PS3 lightly. If they bring out the 60Gig 360, AND give it a $50 price cut (worldwide) - we could be looking at a nice period of sustained higher sales.

Nocturnal is helping companies get cheaper game ratings in Australia:

Wii code: 2263 4706 2910 1099

It's a good boost since the only notable new hardware is NCAA09, still the overall international impact will be minimal due to the current advantage Sony enjoys in Europe and Japan.

Really? Most people I know think that the best product is one of the ones in the higher middle price range US wise.

That the top one is usually overexpensive and likely to have some flaws charging the highest just to look the best... anything cheap can't be good... so the best is the middle ranged products and that research will find the best one.

Of course that really has more to do when there are like 10+ varieties of things... not just 3 systems.

In EU 360 is cheaper than Wii and they can't even outsell the PS3.

Lol... A neck and neck if that happens. But I doubt it. It's 360's time for now.
