Ill make a bet that there will be more profit on the Conduit than on Killzone 2. I dont exactly know how much they would have to sell to recoop costs on Killzone 2, but it has to be quite a pretty penny.

kinda make what you first said about "not make up how much was spent on it" quite a hypocrisy, no?

Seriously people, Don't assume stuff you know nothing about. And please stick to the topic.

THe mod has spoken, keep it clean.

Hows that hypocritical? Killzone could sell 3 million copies, but if it didnt turn a profit, it wont be successful. On the other hand, the Conduit could sell 300,000 copies, and turn a big profit, and that would be very successful.

Profit ultimately decided what is considered successful or a failure because if a high hyped, high budget game gets okay sales, it is a failure. But if a low budget, high hyped game gets the same okay sales, it is a success.

That is why games like No More Heroes and Zack and Wiki are successes, because they were lower budget titles.

Again, you don't know Killzone/The Conduit's budget, you don't know the profit margin per game sold, and you sure don't know how many it will sell. Please stop predictions on things you know absolutely nothing about.

Go with sales number, let the marketing department to worry about the profit line, please.

The whole topic is about making predictions. You said which one will likely fail, and no matter how you spin it, it is failing for both the consumer and developer if a title does not make a profit. That is what makes a success or not.

We know Killzone 2 has an incredible budget, and we know the Conduit has a much smaller budget. High Voltage makes titles for the Wii because of the much lower development costs.

Saleswise, Killzone 2 might possibly, and probably, sell more than the Conduit. But, in terms of profitability, I think the Conduit will be more successful. High profits leads to a greater chance of a sequel.

The conduit could be dissapointing IMO , its way to generic in my eyes . KZ2 has way to much moeny put in it , so it will have some chances to have at least a decent ammount of quality in it ;)

To Human ... well I already expect that game to bomb at least in the reviewes department ...

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

AAUUGGHHHHH!!! all those huge quotes are making my eyes bleed....

I say The Conduit. I don't care how good the gameplay is, with THOSE graphics...... *shudder*

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Before I clicked the thread, I saw the avatar and noticed it was King of Whales thread - then I placed a bet with myself saying "I bet the conduit is what this thread is about. But there will be another game for each console after the conduit.

Then I responded to myself: "If he's smart he will edit it and put conduit last on the list to not make the intention obvious."

Then my response was: "Yea, maybe but I bet Conduit is on that list, mainly because there was another thread where this mood about The Conduit being a flunk began by someone I figure is going to be one of the fastest responders to this thread."

Then I responded again to myself: "Well - I know I'm not psychic so I'll just click it."

Then my response to that response: "No I'll click it and also bet's don't work when both of me are agreeing."

I clicked the thread and ta-da! Conduit not only first but in bold. I should get a cookie or something =(.

@OP

The Conduit could flunk who knows, I'll work it like this - I have no intent on getting Too Human or an Xbox360 to get Too Human, with me being the general folk who doesn't own an xbox360 then it wont sell, I don't see a lot of Xbox guys going nuts about it either - most seem to be rooting for Gears 2. KillZone 2 I get confused with Resistance sometimes but I know a few Ps3 guys who are stark raving mad for it, I'm not sure if that applies generally. As for The Conduit - I figure it's going toe to toe with CoD 5 - I can say that if CoD5 doesnt have 1:1 and VC and The Conduit does have those things then I'm getting The Conduit over it, if that's the general application then The Conduit could sell a lot.

If this is all the case then The Conduit will sell, Killzone 2 will sell and Too Human wont sell.

By Sell I mean they at least cover the cost of development and move into profit. (Though I hear KZ2 is almost 100 mil to develop.)

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

>We do know that Killzone 3 has a massive budget though. We know it was at 40-50 million like... months ago.

That's news to me, link please.

Sure it's easy to dig back months.

Well lets start from 2006... since it's the easiest to find and we'll add in more from there.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6162365.html

So in 2006 we know it's already over $21 Million in 2006.  Without advertising mind you.

As for the rest it'll be harder as there are dozens and dozens of fourm posts everywhere of people taking the 40-50 million dollar budget as simple common knowledge.

not killzone , it's unlikely to make the same mistakes twice
not conduit : hey it's a wii game here
not too human cause the demo was good -i was told-
can i pick nothing? :)

Killzone, because it's too generic to outsell other (similar) shooters.
