Guys, anything "64" would be stupid, because it's not gonna be a 64-bit system.
Anyhow, secondly, "wii ni" would just be how the Japanese would pronounce what is written as "Wii 2". Every language would read that in their way. "Wii Zwei", "Wii Dos", "Wii Two", etc.
Third, Gearbox, the first three Nintendo consoles all followed a "sequel" naming system. Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64. Gamecube and Wii are the first to not follow that as part of their official name.
But yeah, I think we can safely say the next Nintendo system won't be called "Wii 2", and this thread's actually probably part of the reason why. :p

You are perfectly correct. Numbers in Japanese are sometimes pronounced in English and this is certainly the case with many video game consoles and some other names and titles. It's the pureisuteeshon tsuu not the pureisuteeshon ni.
that was in an issue of game informer once. but its still funny
The Japanese pronounce 2 as tsuu.
They never call Dragon Quest 2 "Doragon kuesuto ni". never.
I keep telling people, the best name for the next Wii is NüWii. It's pronounced New Wii. and the Nu represents Nintendo's dedication to games for U(you)
