Forums - Gaming - Engadget: Nintendo MotionPlus Hands-on (hint, they are not impressed)

Ahh, nice picture, I thought it might use those two holes to clip into.

I'd read the content, but I can't be bothered.

(Obviously) I haven't tried the Wii MotionPlus, but from the video alone it was obvious that it was much more precise and would line-up more closely to how people expected the Wiimote to work. Certainly, it probably doesn't seem as amazing as the first time you used a Wiimote but the improved accuracy is probably fairly noticeable (and a desired improvement) to those people who have played dozens of Wii games.

Hmmm do I trust IGN or a place I have never heard of before?

Former something....

I guess I'll wait til I see more games using this to create an opinion.

If it's going to be a while before Wii Sports Resort comes out, why not implement this technology into all future Wiimotes?

Will there be games that say "MotionPlus required"? It's confusing and a hassle to not only buy up to 4 attachments, but keep on eye on which games require it or not...to the average consumer anyway.

Think about it...in a year from now, when the hottest new game on the market is a 4 player game that requires MotionPlus for all 4 players, and you're going to buy a Wii to play it...you have to buy the Wii and 3 extra controllers already, and on top of that you have to buy 4 MotionPlus attachments? I'd feel cheated for sure.

Nintendo could make a new Wiimote with this technology in it...and offer this attachment for all old owners...that seems like the most consumer-friendly choice...I doubt it would cost Nintendo too much to change production.

But that's just my current issue with it...if this MotionPlus actually works well and opens up significantly different gameplay options...I won't really care...new purchasers will though.

I am wondering thses things myself. I really need to use the thing myself before I can understand the differences.

"The included Wii MotionPlus controller registers every little movement of your arm. Every one. So throwing a Frisbee? It's not about just flicking your wrist any old direction. You've got to keep your arm steady, and stop your throw exactly correctly. Or else your Frisbee is going to go all over the place, and your little dog can't catch it, and he gets mad at you, and there is nothing more demoralizing during a Nintendo game demo. "

Chris Kohler, Wired magazine.

Yeah, sounds like the same old shit.

Seems like the guy doesn't get the point.

Either that or just bitter the Wiimote isn't 1 to 1 out of the box.

Either way, wasn't it suggested they may start packaging all wiimotes with this thing.

I'm going to go ahead and guess that Ryan Block hasn't actually played the Wii very much. The difference in control is apparent to me just from watching the fencing videos.

if IGN said it was good...then seriously...nobody else can say it sucked..they're not impressed? LOL

because none of the games out NEEDED it..the new Zelda won't NEED it...they cna make it waggle again...they choose not to..lol..or else it would SUCK

if they keep it this way they complain:waggle

they fix it..they still complain:not needed

hypocrits...make up your damn mind

Lol, they don't have a clue what they're talking about.. :p
None of those games displayed in Resort would be possible without the MotionPlus. :p
All other people who've tested it says it works wonderfully and truly makes a night and day difference. :p

Hmm... It seems to have a switch on the bottom.

Perhaps you can turn it on and off? but why would it need turning off?
