Can someone please explain why Microsoft would pay to have the game, but not in the region it would help the most?

Well for all we know the price tag for that to happen might have been even more than MS was willing to pay. I know some fanboys think this was a huge attack move for MS. The way I see it is it was more of a defensive move. This wasn't a move to gain new sales, it was a move to keep existing 360 owners from going out and buying PS3's for this game. MS has no real 1st party support, while sony's 1st party studios are getting better and better. MS is just trying to pull away what 3rd party exclusives they can to stop the bleeding. with their pathetice japan userbase the price tag would have been redunkulous.

Or for all we know, S-E wasn't paid, and they just wanted to offset the development costs as much as possible.

That's why they switched to the Playstation brand in the first place (N64 carts cutting into the profit margin way too much for the game they had in mind). So why is it so hard to believe that would happen again?

Ahhh boo hoo poor jackie boy....money grabbing sod!!!

That the FFXIII announcment was such a surprise is just proof that Sony are still a bunch of arrogant faceless twits...

They base their buisness on traditional japan style ethos...but forget that they are doing transactions in the western world...

You. Are. An idiot.  East/West has nothing to do with it, the development does not prove they are arrogant twits.  Your statement does prove that you are a twit.  Have a nice day.

OK SE, time to move some Sony exclusives like KH3 (Which you already did, a DS one is coming), DQ (Already done) and some RPG'S. Remember Nintendo has the biggest userbases both in portable and home consoles,

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

There´s a possibility that SE, as greedy and malign as they are, had already discussed about making their HD games multiplatform due to the big potential customer win it would offer and were just waiting over M$ reactions toward their flagship franchises. M$ offered a hefty sum for breaking their Sony exclusivity of FFXIII and consequently SE achieved a double win.

S-E made this choice off development costs and more profit. I don't blame them at all.

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

I think you guys who think there wasn't moneyhatting going on are being dillusional and are in total denial. and since nothing that anyone is going to say short of coming in here with a picture of the check itself is going to change your minds, there isn't a reason to argue this point as you guys are completely oblivious to MS's buisness habbits.

Square is doing something smart.  Broaden the market for their product, so they can earn more money.

I wonder if all the Nintendo Fanboys out there were just as mad when Square went to Sony.

Wanting proof means we are delusional? F you. And we aren't denying that Microsoft has paid for certain things, but that is not proof this was paid for.

You seem like the delusional one for thinking it's a forgone conclusion that Microsoft paid for it, and that even the possibility they didn't is ludicrous.
