Look at it this way. If 1 in 10 break what is the chance that you will get 3 of them that do so? 1 in 1000. Many of them can overheat by stuff you don't expect them too. Leaving them on top of the t.v. can fry them. Now I won't argue that Xbox 360's breaking down is the owners fault, but if you have that many break down and they all break in the same space well then it means that it is probably your fault.

And to Origin: Thanks for calling me a idiot, you made my day.

I'm glad I have that much effect on you, and glad to see you happy.

Sorry but this problem isn't an incompetancy thing it's a manufacturing problem, I don't know how you can honestly say that you don't see that it is a manufacturing problem when people have identified physically what the problem is that causes the red rings of death and what Microsoft need to do it... i've even helped someone fixed their unit that died from a guide on the internet... and it worked, wow it's just a FREAK occurance that so many millions of people around the world have the EXACT SAME PROBLEM.

Hope you're day has been good.

Ah, so space must be my culprit...oh, wait.

As you can see I own a lot of electronics, It's kind of a hobby. I know how to take care of them. That PS2 is a launch console(but has since been replaced with a PS3). Maybe you should stop trying to make excuses for MS's shotty craftsmanship.

EDIT - I'll do you one better. Here is a picture of my gamertag.

WOW! How big is the first one?

This thread pretty much sets it for me.
I'm not going to get a Xbox360 until failure rates show an improvement. Hopefully the 65nm processing can help this problem.

crappy old school NES games are more entertaining than next-gen games.

I buy my first 360 in july 06 and I have my third right now, even if I am the kind of person who take care of it's consoles and games.

Gamertag : Dark Red Icarus

Gamerscore : 29000!!!! still growing

PSN ID : Gamer9851

Now Playing : Soul Calibur 4 and World of Warcraft

This thread is useless because anyone can come in and claim anything they want without any way for it to be verified.

Hm, let me put in some number from a Dutch poll from tweakers.net with some translations:

At this moment 6-25-2007 21:14 local time there were 1010 members who voted ...

Option 1: Doesn't own an XBox 360 (about 70%)
Option 2: It ain't broken
Option 3: It's broken
Option 4: It's a bit broken ( like DVD freeze / scratches and such)

Only 30% of the members who voted owns an XBox,
more then 33% of the ones that do own one it is completely broken,
and a large part (about 11%) of the Xboxers have some DVD freezes / scratches occasionly.

To sum it up: 300+ XBox owners with 44% product failures

It's 50".

I don't own one but my roommate does and it gave us the three-eyed monster not too long ago.

He took it apart and modded it back to functionality, for now, but he doesn't expect it to last.

And if you want proof, I can take pictures, but for now I can say that Dead Rising was awesome, but you needed an HDTV to see the text and the mannequin torsos are the best melee weapon in the game, in terms of durability to kill ratio.

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

Alright, enough is enough. This thread is pointless as web polls are not scientific. I just bought an XBOX 360 and Yep, I know they are prone to a failure rate that appears to be higher than normal. (notice I said appears as everything is anecdotal in lack of scientific polling). The bottom line is I wanted to play games on the 360. It comes with a 1 year warranty. If you are concerned, buy the 2 year extension for $60 bucks. Stop worrying, take care of the unit by keeping it in a well ventilated space and play some games. The console is exceptional. Period.
