Why even talk about casual games in a GAMER event. I'm sure average Joe doesn't even know E3 and wouldn't even care!

Ah, but it's a media event first and foremost.  Not a "GAMER" event.

Yeah but what's the majority of people who actually watch it? Like I said average Joe doesn't care! We gamers do.

The audience is the media. The conferences are designed to convey each publisher's message to the general media. Nintendo, did that. This conference was for the media outlets that casual gamers read and watch.

The floor is catered for the speciality media and you can expect more announcemnts you care about there.

I dont understand why this is so hard to grasp. It's the 3rd year Nintendo has taken this Stradegy.

Ugh I know its just I remember previous E3 being better/more fun to watch for gamers... Now it's casuals everywhere.

Blame the ESA. They decided that the 24x3 Party Event was unneccesary.

Sony WINS E3!!

Sony will have the most interesting conference. I dont see them winning E3.

We said that about Nintendo yesterday and look what happened...

Oh pull yourself toghether.

Nintendo doesn't owe you anything for owning a gamecube. They gave you 5 good years, and if you didn't like them, then you sure as hell shouldn't have bought a Wii. The Wii has a better line-up than the GC had at the same time, so they did better than you ought to have expected. Perhaps not as well as you hoped, but that just ment you set the bar to high.

YOU weren't the goal of this. Face it, you cannot always be the center of attention.

You've got Smash Bros, Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Kart Wii, Super Paper Mario and Fire Emblem all top quality games, within the last 12 months. You're also getting Kirby and Animal Crossing (with a mic) within this FY. Fatal Frame IV, Wario Ware Shake it and Disaster Day of Crisis are all currently set for 2008.

You KNOW about all the 5 latter games. They will release within the next half year. So what if you're not getting any footage, you're still going to be able to play them!

Nintendo IS making the games you want. They just didn't show them at this conference. You didn't get the attention this time. Someone else did. Therefore, they're ultimately morons, or what? You're getting everything you could realistically want, but it wasn't shown at this very moment.

I disagree. Nintendo had one of the most interesting conferences yet. They're making the core games, but has now understood that they no longer need the marketing. The core is buying it anyway. The casuals need commercializing more.

They didn't take the favourable approach for you, and thus it wasn't good enough.

  3DS FC: 4355-9313-6815

So no Zelda or Kid Icarus game this year.... so what? its only 5 month left of this year, Nintendo must have some great games coming up the first 6 month of next year wich is long before FFXIII is released in the US/EU.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I'll quote my self from yesterday.

"I think the strongest Press Conference will Not be Nintendo however. Nintendo Focuses on the media outlets that are not game specific during the conference, CNN, FoxNews, AP, Reuters. With that said, they will absolutely win the large and vast casual audience that got to such places for entertainment news. MS vied very strongly for this crowd today and failed miserably.

Casual Winner = Nintendo"

This is 100% true. Tommorow, when you open up the NYT, you will read about WiiSports Resort and Nintendo's casual offerings.

Sony will have the most interesting conference because they will show games, games, and more games. Which as a gamer appeals to me. But they will not "win" E3. Nintendo will gain the most as they have shown the larger casual audiences what they have coming out in the next 12 months.

Hmmm. We know the games are coming, at least from 3rd parties with Conduit and Mad World.

Just a guess here: Nintendo is playing to the media, and knows the "mainstream" press will be focusing on the presentation. This is where many "casuals" will get their news.

Core gamers hunt down info in IGN, EGM, VGC, and other sites with 3 letter abbreviations. We'll see what was on the showroom floor, and pay attention to post-conference unveilings (as has sometimes been done in the past).

Still, if they don't have something for the core gamers, then this will be disappointing.
