Forums - Nintendo - How much powerful the Wii is ?

we know alot about the power of the 360 & ps3 but we almost don't know a thing about the power of the Wii ... is it the same power as the Game cube or its more powerful than the first xbox ... also which DirectX it have ?? is it 8 or 9 ??  ( forget this ).. and last can the games on Wii run at 1080p ??.

if u know anything about the Wii power and what its capable to do plz post it ... u will help others to know the true Wii power.

I would say that is is faily powerful. The difference in power between Xbox and GC seems as large a gap as the difference in power between Wii and Xbox... but this is just eyeballing (I do have an HDTV, which makes the games looks nicer) Also keep in mind the Wii probably hasn't been fully tapped, and this is probably also true for PS3. Games coming out this fall for 360 will look excellent, and games in the future will probably look a bit better, but I think 360 is the most tapped of the 3 consoles out now, due to its one year head start.

The overall specs are not at all near that of the 360 or PS3, but quite frankly, they don't need to be.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

The power of the Wii is that it has managed to almost sell as much as the PS3 and the 360 combined...with last gen specs. everything else is irrelevant.

Er... the Wii and the PS3 don't use DirectX, they use modified versions of OpenGL.

Probably the Wii could theoretically do 1080p, but the detail (as in textures, models, shaders) would have to be reduced to achieve a decent framerate. Something like it was done in F-Zero X in the N64 to achieve 60fps.

And I've heard the Wii is less powerful than the Dreamcast

the question is clear its about the hardware not the sales.

Nah, Dreamcast is actually not a very powerful system at all. The Wii is about 4 times more powerful just in terms of raw processing capabilities.

Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

Most say its 2-3 times more powerfull than the Cube, others say its more powerfull than the Xbox (not 360) while others say its weaker than the xbox.

But from a recent article from Factor 5 they said that the GC was able to do the same things the xbox could do but differently due to the architecture. and saying how/what the wii has improved from the GC hardware.

Keep in mind it's Fazz who said that--one of our biggest Wii fans here

It was a joke.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
