I have been moving house all day and I am shattered so I just wanted a peaceful night in tonight, no surprises. I powered up my 360 for a little gaming sesh, nothing to intense just Saints row. Anyway, I got the red ring which flashed up. I immediatley cut the power, hoping that in some way I could stop whatever was happening. I thought I had lost my 360 forever but it works fine.

Is this uncommon??? I've never heard of this happening.

my friends xbox does that all the time he just turns his off and on again and its fine

If getting three red lights is rrod then yes I evaded it once, I turned the power off too .....

We must be hella f***ing lucky!! or 3 lights isnt always rrod, I don't know much about rrod but I don't think it can be reversed from just turning the power off ...

Sometimes it has something to do with the powersupply or hard drive. The tech people always tell you to unplug the brick from your console and wall outlet and to unhook the hard drive.

When did you buy your 360?

Well, good luck, I've heard story of people surviving it for a long time, and those who had it broken on them again within days. Hope you are the former.

 You didn't have RROD, you had something else...Most likely a lose wire\hard drive connection\something like that...

RROD is not fixable permenently without messing around with the GPU (opening case and lots of hassle)
