The Wii, since Nintendo was coming from a gen where the GC ended last, and the image was way down. Doing what Nintendo did with the Wii is probably the greatest risk ever taken by any company in the videogame market.

Now the GBA had no competition, and most people asociate handehelds to GameBoy, so seeing that it was a Nintendo product the risks were smaller, but there were some risks too.

The DS because it was the proving ground for the Wii

Neither, Nintendo knows that no matter what they make (as long as it isn't a red brick you tie to your head) that ~20 million or so fanboys (like me) will buy it any way. They purposely design these machines so they will make back their R&D off of the fanboys. This is why Gamecube lost the "war" but was still a success. Plus they know software will sell oodles.

If they sold 10 million Wii consoles, then they still would have sold close to 6 mil Smash, 6 mil MKWii, etc.

Wii. Because it was Completly different direction to PS3/360, Wii is doing good things for the Industry

i think the DS was the bigger risk, it was a test product up against the playstation brand at its strongest

the DS, because if the DS failed then they know the consumers don´t want innovation.
