Forums - Nintendo - Honest opinion, if I thought Zelda was ok will I like Ocarina of time?

"will I like Ocarina of time?"

It's one of the commandments for gamers. You have to like Ocarina of Time.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Give it a go.

OoT is without a doubt a much better game, so it's worth playing it. However, you probably won't be totally blown away or anything. Part of the reason OoT is so often named as the best is because it was so groundbreaking. The gameplay mechanics, targeting, layout, etc. were the best ever seen at the time, but if you played Twilight Princess, none of that will seem very impressive. Even so, the story, gameplay, and direction are still better. It's better than Twilight Princess without a doubt.

The upgraded GC version of OoT is better than the N64 version.

The upgraded Zelda: TP on Wii was better than the GC Zelda: TP.

Ok looks like I might be in Zelda world for a while. A LONG while if these games are as long as TP.

Thanks for that.
Actually, TP was much longer then any other zelda game. Wind waker was around 20 or so hours, Ocarina was about 15-17 for me (not very sure, since i haven't played it in a while). I'm not sure about Majoras mask. So while you certainly wont spend a LONG while with zelda, you'll still get your money's worth of playtime.

If you like Boom Blox more than Okami than you have very bad taste. That considered, you will probably like Ocarina of Time.

Says the guy with the Okami avatar.

Perspective: My favourite games on the Wii are Re4: Boom Blox: Okami in that order just so you know.

I have a Nintendo 64 lying around here somewhere and I MIGHT even have the game here too. So should I go to the trouble of finding and playing that game? I liked Zelda - Twilight princess, but I didn't think it was that awesome really. Just a good game among the 500 or so other games i've played.

Since it keeps popping up in the best of lists, I was wondering. Should I play or should I go?

A. Sacrilidge.

B. You can download OOT on VC for like 10 bucks.

I suggest you do so. Any gamer, ANY gamer should play OOT, and LttP. Required reading.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I suggest you give it a try. The normal, find a sword and a shield, beat the first dungeon, while you learn how to play -sequence in the beginning is pretty boring, but once you get out of the Kokiri village, that's when the game starts.

As said, since practically everything has been done in games after OoT, it propably doesn't impress as much as it did ten years ago, but the game is great even if it wouldn't be "impressive" today. There's a lot of things to do and things to find, outside the main story and 100% completion is nearly impossible without the stone of agony (before someone says anything: without the help of).
I find TP and OoT very different kind of games, as a whole, OoT being better. And as some people suggested, ALttP would be worth a try too.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

Personally, I like TP more than OoT, but I'm in the minority. You should go find it, I wouldn't call it a legendary epic game, but it's easily top 5 on the N64.
