Steam, now PSN. One is better than XBL and free, and one is quickly catching up to XBL and free.
How can you defend giving MS your money? It's not worth it. They're ripping you off.

lets hope MS makes live free at E3! lol i know it wont happen but heck i can hope!
PSN is improving ever day from store to in game XMB ,,,,not to mention the PS video store this summer.
you gotta give credit where it's due,,,PS3 owners asked for better online experience and in game XMB and sony listened, even though they don't charge us for it.
| mrstickball said: Gold (I think) accounts for 50% of users. FYI: Gold is about $35 a month where I live. If I used XBL a lot, I'd use gold, and enjoy it. If you want to pine on and on about how great Sony is for taking almost 2 years to catch up to what XBL has in some areas of functionality, feel free to. What's stopping MS from announcing their next wave of XBL features that'll stomp out what little stuff Sony has done? |
Like the Spring Dashboard update that never appeared?

We're only looking out for our brothers on the other side. ;)
i would'nt mind paying but maybe a price drop.
End of 2008 Sales:
Wii- 39 Million 360- 25Million PS3- 22 Million

£35 a year (in the UK at least) for online is frankly very little. I have no issues paying for it and it certainly isnt / hasnt been a deciding purchasing factor for any of my friends either.
It would be nice if Ms give a few more rewards for Gold subscribers but not a necessity.
Sony seem all hype with their services, their new update should get their service up to near enough the standard that xbl has been for over 2 years. Sony must have invested heavily in PSN and espeicially Home. I wonder how their share holders feel about the amount of money the PS3 is losing right now.
I think they'd rather keep getting Xbox Live money than winning the non-prize for 2nd place in the console war...
Remember that the more users they have, the more expensive it is to run the service, so as time goes by it will get more and more expensive.
If they realize they're getting hurt due to Sony's updates, then they can act... by default, they won't.

What is the difference between a XBL Gold and Silver account? Is it just the ability to play games online? It has to be something more than that for $50.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.
Yes it should be, because by the end of this month XBOX LIVE will have no advantage over the PSN, heck the PSN will have advantages over XBOX LIVE and its completely free.
