Forums - Sales - Which console will have the most million sellers?

Wii, duh. Simple math people. The #1 selling console always has the most.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

@frybread well it has in the past, but then the best selling console also had the best madden numbers until now

come play minecraft @  mcg.hansrotech.com

minecraft name: hansrotec

XBL name: Goddog

All of these numbers will explode in the next 6 months.

The Wii's should explode the fastest, as it goes from a 30M install base to a 50M install base. Watch the million-sellers list go from 28 to over 60.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

360 then Wii and with PS3 a long long way behind

I'm going to say 360 because it is a beast.

Plus Wii owners are cheap and won't buy as many games as 360 owners do.

I presume you are calling the wii owners cheap because they bought the cheapest console. So what do you call everyone who waited to buy a 360 till it was cheaper? (ie. what will eventually become most of the 360's install base)

Plus Wii still has loads of first party goodness to come!

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!

People are putting the 360 above the Wii, but I wonder how they think that's possible. According to VGC, the PS1 has 132 million sellers. The Wii userbase will go far beyond the PS1 userbase, so do people think it's possible that the Wii will be outdone by the PS1? Or that the 360 can somehow climb above that? Leading consoles also tend to outlast their competition, and with all that extra software being bought I don't see the small 360 userbase keeping up.

Btw, take a look at Wii's software lineup for this holiday - the third party games are of much higher quality than usual. If this is any indication of the Wii's future, expect the Wii to rise, fast. Like a 12yr old's dick.

As for the 360, this is where achievements & timed exclusivity help. It'll probably just edge out the PS3 in sales.

My guess is Wii >>> 360 > PS3.

Wii sales will be very holiday loaded since casual gamers are more likely to buy games during this period.

I think is will be the Wii running away with it. I think WM+ will usher in some new and very creative games that will sell like crazy (ala carnival games or my sims).

Wii will be the top, without a doubt. Pretty much any Nintendo name title will make it to a million, and legs on many Wii games are pretty good.

360 will be second. But due to the headstart, as well the proven history of 360 owners buying software (proven to put many titles into million range, anyway), I don't think the margin will be as big as hardware sales suggest (ex: if the 360 had 40 million consoles sold and the Wii had 80 million, I wouldn't expect the Wii to have twice as many million sellers, but I could see it having 50% more).

PS3 will be third, because the gap is too wide and the vast majority of games are going to be multiplatform with the 360 from now on. And any multiplat that makes it to a million on the PS3 will probably do the same on the 360. The exclusive can close the gap, I think by 6 or 7 games, but the 360 has it's own exclusives to fall on (even though the brand names aren't generally as strong and MS has a lesser reliance on first party exclusives).
