there aren't enough goo FPS games.

Like the good ones that come to mind are Call of Duty 4, Halo 3, Bioshock, Resistance, Half Life 2, Tom Clancys Rainbow Six Vegas and Ghost Recon. Of course i missed a couple, but thats not a ton.

There are alot more than that, and even so that is far more than what other genres have. I believe there are 3 good platformers for come console this gen. R&C, Smg, and SPM.

Okami is not an Adventure game

Metroid Prime 3 is not an adventure game

Twilight Princess is not an adventure game

Uncharted is not an adventure game

Ratchet and Clank is not an adventure game

Heavenly sword is not an adventure game

GTA IV is not an adventure game

If you want to play Adventure games, then go buy them on PC or DS, there's plenty of them there.

LOL? I think you are confusing point and click adventure with the full adventure genre.

I think you are confusing Action-adventure with Adventure. Okami and Zelda are definitely NOT Adventure games.

From wikipedia

"An adventure game is a type of computer entertainment program or video game, characterized by investigation, exploration, puzzle-solving, interaction with game characters, and a focus on narrative rather than reflex-based challenges"

I believe twilight princess  metroid prime 3 and okami have those requierements. Anyway these are really sub-genres of the adventure genres. It still and adventure game, but its also an action adventure. Just like there are wrpgs and jrpgs.

Edit:

Also here is more " Games that fuse adventure elements with action gameplay elements are sometimes referred to as adventure games (a popular example is Nintendo's Legend of Zelda series)."

Zelda is sometimes referred to as an adventure game because some people do not know what a real adventure game is (mostly from console gamers). The fact that Twilight Princess and Okami have a big part of them reflex-based makes them action-adventures, because that's what Action-adventure genre is: a mix between adventure and action.

You forgot the second bit from wikipedia: "The adventure game genre had some elements carry over into other genres. Games that fuse adventure elements with action gameplay elements are sometimes referred to as adventure games (a popular example is Nintendo's Legend of Zelda series). Adventure game purists regard this as incorrect and call such hybrids action-adventures. In Europe, games which fuse action and adventure elements are called "arcade adventure" games. The term "adventure game" is used with the same meaning in North America, Europe, and Japan, and is regarded as pure genre in all regions."

EDIT: I'm not doing this to offend you, it's just I don't like when people are misinformed about what an adventure game really is.

Not too many FPS, but too many FPS that are similar. I personally think first person is the best view for 3D gaming.

Here we go again. The genre classification debates.

Well I always thought there are many sub genres to the adventure game Action-Adventure being one of them. Well I guess your right though.

Zelda is considered by many to be the game that defined the Adventure genre.

Zelda is action adventure in the same vein as the game whose influence probably factored into it's creation, Adventure for the Atari 2600. It also is said to have inspired the Ultima series.

This thread is getting way off topic.

Well, your question has already been answered within the first couple of replies, so we are done with the topic. After that it is absolutely allowed to go off topic to discuss other things which is normal in your threads since you have always so many additional questions.

Yeah I guess your right.

Of course I am.

Btw, it would be nice if you delete some of the quote boxes in long conversations. In the debate with shio all that quoting madness took up more than two screens at the end and it's quite annoying for most people to have to scroll past so much repeated text. Only keep the last 1-3 boxes.

Just did.
