Great work, sales figures like this should be free instead of having to be paid for, especially since all analysts seem to do is make a guess based on previous figures then change them as soon as they realise they are incorrect.
It will be a pity when this site gets so big that ioi is tempted to part with it by a large increase in his bank balance offered by some multi-national company....I wonder if this will ever happen.

This is NOT Brett Walton's (vgchartz) proprietary information, nor is this information something that a real analyst couldn't compile with a little hard work and common sense but at the end of the day it's all about making it easy. Ahhh, that's why we have to love the Internet. There's no longer a need for integrity. Just point and shoot ... I mean, click. vgchartz's information belongs to the market research firms and retailers he's lifting it from. He should give credit where credit is due. He's making a name for himself off the hard work of others. Wal-Mart, Target, GameCrazy, NPD, Famitsu, Chart Track, Amazon ... the list is large but not nearly as large as Brett Walton's ego. |
Cards on the table, when there's a dispute between VGChartz's numbers and those of the NPD/Media Create, I always go for the latter's. And if a person was on mind to, he could cherry-pick his way through VGChartz's numbers and say "see, it's way off!" as there are a few games where the numbers just don't add up.
That said, if you guys really are just guessing numbers, then can you kindly guess me some lotto numbers too? The analyst's praise is well-deserved, and I'm grateful for the data being provided on a free and timely manner. So congratulations people, and thanks for all the hard work.

About the meister comments, well regardless of NPD's obvious interest on having this site gone I've always said there's very little transparency about the numbers. Ioi and vgchartz could earn a bit thumbs up if they were more open about the raw data - maybe an expanded methodology section is in due order? Not because of what meister said, but because transparency is good.
Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).
Congrats to all those who worked hard to make VGC what it is today. And to those who stood their ground in the face of media and NPD criticisms.
The hard work of the staff and the steadfast support of this community have not only prevailed the storms but have allowed VGC to tower among the clouds themselves.
