Forums - Nintendo - The conduit will run in 30 fps... not 60 fps WAIT WHAT?!!

As I'm one of those people that will *always* take 60fps over increased graphical detail this is a rather irritating turn.

The dev, to his credit, at least admits they're sacrificing gameplay for graphics (something I'm quite used to since the advent of the PS One before which nearly every game made ran at 60hz) but I'm still really, really unhappy with this decision.

24 FPS is the minimum required for the illusion of smooth movement but the human eye is capable of appreciating smoother movement up to about 75fps. Having said that anything more than 30 should be more than adequate for most games. A consistent 30fps is far better than a frame rate rating jumping around between 30 and 60 because it's frame rate changes rather than the actual frame rate that we notice.

30 FPS is perfectly alright as long as it STAYS at 30 FPS the whole way. The whole issue with FPS not being high enough is when you get slowdown that drops it below that point.

hsrob basically summed it up; you'll adjust and not notice fps as long as it stays consistent.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

30 FPS is fine with me, I doubt that I, and many others, will be able to notice the difference or care. I'm pretty sure most of the games I have been playing on the PS1 and PS2 have been 30 FPS and it hasn't bothered me one bit. I would prefer better graphics over the smoother frame rate.

It's on a TV, it doesn't matter.

Meh, I will have to see it in actions to see if it is an issue.
There is a gameplay video at ign. I didn't notice any problems. Don't sdtvs run every game at 30fps anyway?

A cheap and old sdtv will run in 50hz

most sdtv's however support 60hz

and my friend's runs at 100hz

I very much hope they can up the framerate before release, 30 hz does detract from the experience

Is there anyway that framerate can be between 30 and 60 fps, like 45 fps or something? I don't think so but, I just always wondered if it could be between 30 and 60, instead of either/or.

30 frames per second is actually pretty good as it is. Honestly, unless you're playing a game at 60 fps and it suddenly drops to 30, the average person can't really see a difference between 30 and 60 frames. At least it isn't 15 fps like in the old 32/64-bit days. 30 fps was rare back then.

Sixty frames per second is nice and all, but I'd rather have something with outstanding graphics running at 30 fps rather than something with "could've been better" graphics running along at 60 fps. The Wii needs it's graphical showpiece.

Also, it should be noted that many of the games on the so-called "HD" consoles only run at 30 frames per second. That actually appears to be the norm on the Xbox360 and PS3 titles.
