Very good numbers, but are those reliable?

The links weren't very solid sources.

Lost my faith in VGChartz. Too many stupid and ignorant Americans, even as moderators.

It's a shame, really. "The Boss" should do something radical about this Americanization, but it seems hardly feasible, so my days here are numbered.

First of all, allow me to express some doubts about using GAF as a source (there have been a lot of fake rumours starting there).

However, if this is true that is a bigger number than anyone expected. Maybe it can do 500k first week, slightly more than that including bundles? This game will be even more frontloaded than other hardcore PS3 games in Japan.

This was from a poster on NeoGAF, not an official one. Not sure about the credibility but if true then its very high. Does anyone know the poster?

Wow, I'm really surprised at those numbers. With numbers like that you'd think the game would be sold out at most stores here in Japan. The one store I checked out today(release day was yesterday) had a big stack of MGS4s just sitting there. To be honest, I was in there for awhile(looking for DS stuff) and I did see "1 person" buy MGS4 (LE)

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far
