DS is the best system on the market right now as far as price and quality games are concerned and will most likely continue to be as long as it's on shelves. You are making the right choice here. I would give you a list of games but I think you already know the recomendations of most people here.
Boycotting the following:
1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.
2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.
3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.
4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games. If that were the case they'd own a PS3.
5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.
6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

Get The World Ends With You, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and Elite Beat Agents. The elite trifecta.
Those games all make my "Top 10 of this generation" list, hands down, and they are DS exclusives. Anyone who hasn't played them is really missing out, and that's the God's honest truth.
They are genre-breakers and any fan of gaming should enjoy them.

Elite Beat Agents for sure. Get that game. I was sceptical myself but now....so much fun.

Oh! y'know a game I never hear people talk about? That I thought was good >.> Contact, it has Earthbound-esque graphics, and Pretty good gameplay^^ I'd probably recommend it to people.

I got my DS a while back (don't remember when), but as of now, I have New Super Mario Brothers DS, Sonic Rush, Super Princess Peach (its my sisters!), the Nintendo Channel for the demos, Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time, and LOZ: Phantom Hourglass.
I'll probably get The World Ends With You somewhere down the line. All this praise of Elite Beat Agents makes me want to check it out too, if it is worth it ($$$) in lasting value.
