Wow, I am glad I created this Thread :) Hopefully It will get longer and longer. I am planing to release more of this type of threads like...

On Nintendo's account...
"When will Wii Pass GC?" (Sold 22-23 million)
"When will Wii Pass N64?" (Sold 33 million)
"When will Wii Pass SNES?" (sold 43 million)
"When will Wii Pass NES?" (60 million)

or contrasting the consoles
"Will Wii pass PS1 and if yes, When?" (sold 100+ million)
"Will Wii pass PS2 and if yes, When?" (sold 120 million)

Any combination is possible! I am planning to release a comprehensive study!

Any suggestions?

so, can you give me any proves, that motorstorm didn`t have 50% attach rate?

because this game was holding long in top10 best selling ps3 games. And in many countries is still there.

me atleast have a link, to some source, you don`t have anything. Then why you think, that you are right, without having anything to prove your point?

Japan:

 Motorstorm 05/19/07 90 64,329

North America:

76
Motorstorm
Sony5,272288,459

So we're looking at roughly 360,000 units when we look at the total from the Japaneese and North American markets; being that this market represents (roughly) 75% of the PS3's userbase it would be unlikely that European sales would match or pass these sales.

Lol... And iff I were to say Gamecube sold 60+ million hardware units... And i'd give a source... Would it then be true?! According to your logics, yes!

But wait! Why am i still arguing about this?! No-one believes you so it has no point... Cause u can't be pursuaded! So im not going to bother... You stick with your own lies... But next time... Keep em for yourself ok?! Then you're not bothering me cause i could've spent my time on other things!

THE NETHERLANDS

I think Wii may end up a bit above SNES levels. And I just made horrible predictions for the American charts, but it was my first try so yeah.

There is really only 1 way this gen will play out logically. The Wii will be the champ because it has wordwide support and its cheap. No one is going to catch it and the numbers will probably get up to PS2 numbers.

Side Note: Anyone who thinks the Wii isnt competing with the PS3 and 360 is in denial. If it werent for the Wii, the 360 and PS3 sales would be double what they currently are and the PS3 would have sold several more million in Japan. Casual people will not buy multiple consoles but they will buy 1 and without the Wii there they would have chosen one of the others. There arent that many grandma's who own a Wii despite all the talk of how the Wii expanded the userbase. Its not that big of a spread.

Between the PS3 and 360 it will come down to Japan. If the 360 penetrates Japan then its all over for the PS3. If Japan doesnt shift, then the PS3 will sell a lot (albeit very slowly until a huge price drop) in Japan. In the US, the 360 will have more sales but the gap between it and the PS3 will not be as wide as in Japan. Europe and Australia I think will be fairly even.

I don't believe that.  There are a lot of people buying a Wii for themselves that haven't bought another game system in their life, I seriously doubt they would have bought a PS3 or 360 if the Wii didn't exist.

yes, but on the other hand, there are a lot of people who will generally buy one console a generation, and play a few games on that. I know three people who had a PS2 last generation and a Wii this generation. These people would have purchased a PS3 or 360 (eventually) had the Wii not come out.

Although there is a lot of people who would not have otherwise bought any console who purchased a Wii, don't discount the many people who have purchased a Wii instead of a 360/PS3. They exist

Basically, it's always the one that's losing that says they're not competing, to make their terrible sales look better. Nintendo said that when they were unsure about whether the Wii would succeed. Now Sony and MS are saying they're not competing, while what has Nintendo said? "We are not only competing with the PS3 and Xbox", a huge difference there.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

The keyword there is "eventually" because we both know most of them wouldn't buy one at the current asking price.  Marc's statement basically implied that they would all be buying PS3s and 360s now and was the statement I was disagreeing with.  Does a $75,000 sports car compete with a $15,000  car?  Well they are both automobiles so in a general sense the answer is yes but they both go for a different type of customer and it's the same thing with consoles.  The 360 and PS3 are going after a specific kind of customer that wants cutting edge graphics, HD, etc, while the customers going for the Wii aren't looking for those particular things.

I know what your getting at Legend but you analogy is poor. I've seen people reference cars when comparing the Wii to the PS3/360 and its just not accurate by any stretch of the imagination. The car manufacturer probably makes around a $1000 off of that $15,000 sports car. As for the $75,000 model, they'd be making upwards of  $30,000 in profit off of the vehicle. The situation is reversed when comparing the Wii and PS3 with the Wii having much higher profit per unit sold and the PS3 having a net loss on each unit sold. In the auto industry the more expensive car makes up for lower sales with a much higher profit margin. Thats not the case with video game consoles.
