Forums - Nintendo - 7-15 Wiimotes on One Console?

@Bonafide732, yeah I agree, more than 4 isn't really necessary/practical. The only games that you can use more than 4, are pretty much just football games. Even doing 4 player, on games like FPS you have to have a really big TV/projector to really see much.

Warioware has a 12 (or maybe 16, I forget) player mode, though they all share a single remote. It's insanely frantic and insanely fun.

it is likely that Nintendo limited the Wii to handling 4 Wiimotes and is keeping the other 3 channels open to Add-Ons like Microphones/headsets.

That has always been my belief since the specs of the Wii were first mentioned. I am really surprised a bluetooth headset/mic/keyboard has not already been released.

Actually, they could increase the number of Wiimotes the Wii can use just by releasing an extra Bluetooth adapter that plugs into a USB slot on the Wii. Two (or even more) Bluetooth piconets, each supporting up to seven devices, can coexist on top of each other with negligible (

WW was 12 players swapping.

They could have the different lights mean different players easily enough.

I mean, it's harder to communicate, but if you remember that you're the player with lights 1&2 lit up, you should be able to see that on screen.

Notice that all of the Wii Sports games have the players represented by the controller light icons and not a number?

I think 7 is the limit, via bluetooth standards.

And I agree, where the HELL is my bluetooth headset? :(

"I mean, c'mon, Viva Pinata, a game with massive marketing, didn't sell worth a damn to the "sophisticated" 360 audience, despite near-universal praise--is that a sign that 360 owners are a bunch of casual ignoramuses that can't get their heads around a 'gardening' sim? Of course not. So let's please stop trying to micro-analyze one game out of hundreds and using it as the poster child for why good, non-1st party, games can't sell on Wii. (Everyone frequenting this site knows this is nonsense, and yet some of you just can't let it go because it's the only scab you have left to pick at after all your other "Wii will phail1!!1" straw men arguments have been put to the torch.)" - exindguy on Boom Blocks

That article is from June! Which is when I first heard about this. I wonder if this topic was already made in June.

I had actually considered this a LOONG time back, since it was first announced that each LED was a single bit, that meant that you could have any number of players.

I agree that 4 players is the maximum that should be had from any single console w/TV setup, not only for connections, but for screen use, and space in a room.

Still, my question is how the Wii balance boards will play into this? Will we eventually be able to have a 4 player game with each person using a wiiboard and a Wiimote nunchuck combination?

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

I've played 5 player Bomberman '93 and Dungeon Explorer on my Wii, and I've played EIGHT PLAYER BUST-A-MOVE BASH on my Wii. The more the merrier. If the tech is available, I'm always down for bigger games.

You don't have to use it. But I would.

even if the wii or ps3 could handle up to seven people or more does the average gamer have enough space for all those people in their bedrooms?? or living rooms or wherever they play their games.. im not sayin anyone is poor or anything like that but.. i know alot of people who like the rock their videogames in the bed..

I have enough room in my spot to handle at least 10 folks in my Man Space/home theater. We had 8 folks in my Man Space for the Halo 3 fragfest the weekend before it came out.

I don't think the average gamer has that much room, but then again, I'm not the average gamer either!

I have just 3 Wii remotes but I would love to find out and see if it's possible.

Yeah. When we had our Halo 3 fragfest, I had my projector at 10' - 4 screens. Man, it was like having 4 plasmas on the wall. It's really the only way to game.

@Rubang, now that you have changed your avatar to...well... you, could you add me to your nemesis label. Because you just caused my eyes to explode in a fiery ball of molten flesh.
