 It's a logical fallacy to assume that the sequel cannot outsell the original.  Halo 2 showed empirically that it is possible.  The reason it is a fallacious line of thinking is because even though the sell-through at retail for the original is around 5 million, far more people have played the game via rentals or purchase of a discounted, used copy.  I think 7-8 million copies sold lifetime is not at all an unreasonable figure.

It's going to be huge. 360's biggest exclusive, even ahead of Halo 3.

i agree, everytime i go in a game store they tell me i need to reserve gears 2 or it will be madness trying to get a copy.

GEARS 2 will NOT bomb, it be an even BIGGER success JUST BECAUSE the first one was so BIG. 

85% is the least it would score total over alot of reviews but from the looks of it their fixing and adding everything they need too to topple gears of war 1 at 94%. 

I mean get the july issue of EGM, Multi-player alone will be the best experience of the year.

The locales in the campaign are much more varied and different this time around so it shouldn't disappoint either.

Your just a fanboy wishing it would come to ps3. Cuz we all know if it was on PS3, you would be hyping it like no tommorow like the fanboy's are doing now with the port of bioshock coming to ps3. 

 Only time will tell. But if any release has the chance of selling that much it had.

Gears of War 2 may be the last great console exclusive game for the XBox 360. 360 sales will drop off in 2009.

PS3 has a great list of games for 2009 with: FF XIII, God of War 3, GT 5, Tekken 6, Kill Zone 2, War Devil, White Knight Story, Valkyrie Chronicles, Agency and Resident Evil 5. Ten great games for PS3 in 2009. PS3 hardware sales will take off like a rocket and head for the stars in 2009.

 This ain't an exclusives thread, it's a gears 2 sales thread. Also:

 War devil, White knight story and the agency:  Not a proven franchise, so you don't want another lair incident when claiming the quality of a title

Killzone 2: I've said it a few times, but I'll say it again. Killzone 2 comes from a franchise of hit and miss. The miss happened to be the game that shares the most things in common with this game and the hit happened to be the non-fps.  

Valkyrie Chronicles: I think many will confuse this with a similarly titled game and be disappointed. I think it'll turn out great but that doesn't mean as of right now it doesn't fall into the same category as war devil.

Resident Evil 5: Is multiplatform, so it is not a great exclusive game for any platform.

So taking that into account, there are only 4 great games for the PS3 in 2009 (thus far).
